The Treewalker tree stand has one of the largest platforms available, but is also very lightweight. The model that I own, the ProMag XL, has a 20" X 35" platform, which offers plenty of room, even when you have to wear heavy clothing for cold weather hunting. The seat frame is 22" X 36", which also offers plenty of room. The seat is made of nylon netting that will hold up to years of service. I recommend getting the roll up foam seat, which is an optional accessory. It is designed to carry out of the woods with you at the end of your hunt, so that you can always have a dry, warm seat. This seat makes a huge difference on a cold day. It offers both warmth and padding, and it extends over the seat, and up the tree trunk for a comfortable back rest. This will provide for all day comfort, no matter what kind of weather you are facing.
The ProMag XL tree stand weighs in at only 18 pounds. That is amazing considering the size. I owned a Summit Viper tree stand, and it was much smaller, and weighed 5 pounds more! This stand is comfortable to carry, even when you have to carry it great distances.
The two pieces of the Treewalker tree stand fit snugly together, so that they do not rattle or make unnecessary noise while transporting it into the woods. You can hook one bungee cord around the two pieces, and it will be held securely. The Treewalker tree stands also come with shoulder straps. You can upgrade to the padded shoulder straps for an extra fee. The padded shoulder straps would be a nice addition, especially if you have to carry the stand great distances. However, I use the original straps, and I have never had any problem carrying it as far as I want to.
The Treewalker tree stand is also very versatile. The ProMag XL model has a removable front bar, making it ideal for either archery or rifle hunting. Simply remove the front bar when hunting with a bow, and have an unimpeded shot to the front. You will also have plenty of room to maneuver a bow. This model also comes with a shooting bar, which offers a great rest for making longer shots. I recommend the optional padding kit, which includes pads for the arms and the shooting rest. This helps with the comfort of the stand, as well as silences the shooting rest.
One problem with this stand is that it can be difficult to carry through thick brush. It is long enough that it does stick up above your head while carrying it. That can cause it to catch on overhanging branches, and cause some noise. This is not, however, a problem if you watch what you are doing, and are conscious of the foliage around you.
If you want a sturdy, safe, comfortable tree stand for this hunting season, I wholeheartedly recommend the Treewalker tree stand. You will not be disappointed with its comfort or functionality. When you need to sit all day for a real bruiser, this stand will make it a pleasure!
