Trend Micro Titanium is one of the best (or the best if you ask them) antivirus programs available on the market. Protect against viruses, spam, phishing, spyware, botnets, and data-stealing malware. All of these have different names and operate in different ways, but essentially they all want to either ruin your computer or steal sensitive data.
What makes this software better than its competitors is the Trend Micro Smart Protection Network. This is a next-generation cloud-client content security infrastructure. It is a network of over 1,000 security experts that watch for and prevent attacks before they reach your computer. They handle up to 45 billion website, e-mail and file queries daily. When they get a query, they analyze the threat data and make the most efficient steps to protecting you. They block 6 million threats a day. All of this means they they're working 24/7 to prevent viruses and other cyber attacks from making their way to your computer. The best part of the Trend Micro Smart Protection Network is that all of the processing done to protect your computer is done on a cloud and not your computer, so your computer won't be slowed down with a slew of background processing.
There are two versions of Trend Micro which I would recommend as options. The first is Trend Micro Titanium Maximum Security 2011. This is the one I would recommend the most because it provides the most comprehensive protection against viruses. It provides antivirus protection, but also a remote file lock. This means that if you're working remotely at home or at work, any files which are transferred through this remote connection will be protected. Another feature called secure erase means that deleted information stays deleted and can't be hacked and stolen by a virus or data-stealing bot. Wi-Fi protection is another wave of security to protect your Wi-Fi connection in addition to security provided by the router and your operating system. This is especially important because you don't want people doing illegal things on your connection without you knowing. Since it is your wireless router, you might be held responsible. Titanium Maximum Security also gives you 10 GB of online backup which is a great feature because the data you store there will be safe from virus and accidental deletion, but is also accessible from anywhere. The last feature is a system optimization feature which helps you make your computer work at peak efficiency.
Trend Micro Internet Security 2011 is a lighter version of Trend Micro which protects you when surfing the web. This is extremely helpful and if you are on a budget it can keep you safe from a myriad of viruses and malicious software. However, it will not be as comprehensive as Trend Micro Titanium Maximum Security 2011, so if you want to be truly sure that you are protected I wouldn't go with Trend Micro Internet Security unless it is a last resort sort of decision.
