TRESemme Color Thrive Products

A Review of TRESemme Color Thrive Shampoo, Conditioner, & Color Thrive Spray

L.L. Woodard
About eight weeks ago I purchased TRESemme's Color Thrive Shampoo and Color Thrive Conditioner for brunette and red hair. At that same time I purchased TRESemme's Color Thrive Daily Color Lock In Spray. These are products designed to "improve natural radiance of color treated hair," as it states on both the shampoo and conditioner bottles. The Color Lock In Spray states its use will retain "color up to 5x longer"--with the caveat being 5x longer than when not using these three TRESemme products.

The first good news: TRESemme is a product line that won't strain your hair care budget. Each of the three products cost me less than $4.00.

The second good news: When my hair dresser saw my hair after eight weeks (root touch-up, ya know), she remarked how well the color had stayed in my hair after that period of time.

Those two bits of news might sell you right there, but let me complete the review-to be fair.

I used TRESemme shampoo and conditioner every 3-4 days; I used the Color Thrive Daily Color Lock In Spray once after each shampoo. The directions for use of the shampoo and conditioner are the same as for most shampoos and conditioners. I have a thick head of hair that goes below my shoulders and still have more than half a bottle of each product remaining.

Rinsing out the shampoo and the conditioner was no more difficult than any other products I've used. The conditioner made my hair feel soft and smooth even while wet.

The directions for the Daily Color Lock In Spray say to use the product daily after shampooing and conditioning. Since the product is a leave-in conditioner and my hair tends to be oily, I felt the one time use in between shampoos was enough for me, but other may find daily use to be what they are seeking. I will say I never noticed my hair to look or feel greasy or oily after using the Lock In Spray.

It's recommended that the Daily Color Lock In Spray be used after new color is applied for best results. Leave this application of spray in hair overnight before first shampooing of new color. I hadn't bought the product in time to use it this way for my initial coloring and still had good results, but for this second coloring, I followed this step.

All in all, my experience with TRESemme Color Thrive products has been a positive one. It's a product I am not afraid to recommend to my friends/family with color treated hair as I believe the value of the outcome exceeds the price of the products.

If value is having an outcome that equals or is greater than the price, then these TRESemme products are a good value.

I use some hair products by TRESemme. I've never tried this one because I don't have color-treated hair. If and when the time comes, I will give this one a try. Thanks for the great review.

I am dreading having to resort to coloring my gray. I personally like the gray at the temples, but I have a friend who keeps asking me when I am going to start covering my gray, and it really ticks me off. I don't think I need to at this point! Anyway, good review, I'll remember this when and if I start coloring my hair.
