The first single off of Ready is I Need A Girl. The track is produced by StarGate and written by Johnta Austin. The track is one of the better songs of 2009. The track is also one of Trey's most successful tracks to date.
The second single is Successful featuring Drake. The song was originally featured on Drake's mixtape So Far Gone and has been revamped for Ready. The song is already burning up radio and has potential to get even bigger. The track works well and shows off the chemistry between Trey and Drake.
The third single is LOL :-) featuring Soulja Boy Tell'em and Gucci Mane. The track is not what you typically expect from Trey but it works. Soulja Boy and Gucci Mane both add to the effort with appropriate verses.
Drake also appears on Invented Sex produced by Los Da Mystro. The song is a very solid mid-tempo track with strong production and a strong verse from Drake. The track just works well on many levels.
Say Aaah features Fabolous and is produced by Young Yonny and Troy Taylor. The track is a catchy mid-to-up-tempo track. The song features a typically strong verse from Fabolous.
Be Where You Are is produced by Christopher "Deep" Henderson. The song is one of the more unique tracks on the album. The production is so varied throughout the track and works extremely well. The chorus definitely channels a 1980's electro Prince feel to it.
Does He Do It is a collaboration between Sean Garrett and Eric Hudson. The song is more in line with what you expect from Trey. The track is strong and works well.
One Love is produced by Bryan Michael Cox. The song is catchy and features a rock edge which works well with Trey's vocals.
Neighbors Know My Name is another track that you expect from a Trey Songz album. The song sounds like vintage R. Kelly.
Holla If You Need Me sounds like some vintage 1980's soul R&B. Trey is one of the few modern artists able to convey that in a modern way.
Ready proves that Trey is really ready for mainstream success. The album is the most varied album from Trey to date. The album is also the most mature in many ways. Trey Songz firmly proves that he is the modern R. Kelly on this album. Overall Ready gets 8 out of 10 for a very solid album. If you are a fan of Trey Songz make sure you pick up Ready when it is available in stores on September 1st.
