Well, not literally, because our county is presently under a burn ban. But in the sense of the old adage, we're having a downpour.
I say this only to explain my absence beginning sometime between right now and the next few days. It will depend on a lot of things.
My second hip replacement surgery is scheduled for March 4th. From now until then, I am not allowed to take any pain medication, aside from a bit of Tylenol, which helps my problem almost as much as eating jelly beans.
So with increased pain, it becomes harder for me to sit at the computer.
But my worst pain is inside. Today my daughter underwent a biopsy for breast cancer, after being told by both a radiologist and a surgeon, following her second mammogram in a few months, that she probably has breast cancer. She has not received the results of today's procedure, but was given no reason to believe the original diagnosis was wrong.
When I first learned of her problem several weeks ago, I thought of postponing my surgery, but decided it would not help her for me to do so. So, barring unexpected complications, my surgery will proceed as planned.
After the surgery, I will not be up to working at the computer for a while. If my daughter receives the report of positive (how can a diagnosis of cancer be positive?) on the biopsy done today, there is no way of knowing what to expect for a while.
Considering it all, at the present time I have neither the physical nor emotional strength to invest in computer work. I will miss you all and will see you before long, hopefully. Thanks so much for your prayers.

I'm so sorry, Pat. My prayers are with you.
Thanks everyone. My daughter called a while ago and said she has the diagnosis, and it is cancer. Your prayers will be much appreciated.
Oh, Pat. I will put you and your daughter on our church's prayer list. I hope all goes well. Believe it or not, I know two people who just went through chemo and radiation for breast cancer and are doing fine! I hope your hip surgery leaves you better than when you went in. Sending positive thoughts and healing energies! -Kay
