My family is a hot dogs at a party kind of family. So I just went to the store before the party and picked up a sandwich on a whole grain loaf and ate that instead of the hot dogs. My anniversary I ate what I wanted I believe fully in having a cheat day now and then or you are more likely to slip up on a regular basis. I do one once every month. It works for something to look forward to. If I slip up to many times before my cheat day I don't get my cheat day. So it has encouraged me to find alternative foods to curb my cravings.
Jell-O temptations mousse is really good it only has 60 calories and it curbs my sweet tooth. Also The new oh so Delicious brand ice cream is really good. It is made with coconut milk and the fudge bars are only 70 calories. So I have done well at finding something to cut the sweet tooth a bit. I have not had much of a salt craving since I was a teen so I don't know many things that work best for that yet (just the kale chip recipe I posted in an earlier article). They have the Kellogg's cracker chips but I personally think they taste a little rice cake like and they don't have enough flavor or salt to curb anything for me.
I still get frustrated looking at the scale and seeing little to no change. but I know it is happening and my body is healthier for it. I just have to take it one day at a time. I wake up and make a conscious decision to eat well and get up and move a bit. Sometimes I don't want to but I do it anyway. It may take a while but I will get to where I want to be and I will lose the weight I want to lose. I just need a little patience and will power and I must create that for myself!
Turkey "muffins" Kids will love this one too.
Ingredients
2 cups coarsely chopped zucchini
1 1/2 cups coarsely chopped onions
1 red bell pepper, coarsely chopped
1 pound extra lean ground turkey
1/2 cup uncooked couscous
1 egg
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1/2 cup barbecue sauce, or as needed
Directions
1.Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Spray 20 muffin cups with cooking spray.
2.Place zucchini, onions, and red bell pepper into a food processor, and pulse several times until finely chopped but not liquefied. Place the vegetables into a bowl, and mix in ground turkey, couscous, egg, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard until thoroughly combined. Fill each prepared muffin cup about 3/4 full. Top each cup with about 1 teaspoon of barbecue sauce.
3.Bake in the preheated oven until juices run clear, about 25 minutes. Internal temperature of a muffin measured by an instant-read meat thermometer should be at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C). Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
Hope you all enjoy the recipe and I hope you are all getting healthy with me! Good luck!
