How to Be a Dominant Force in the Beginning of a World

Aaron Doll
Tribal Wars is a browser-based online game set in the middle ages where players fight each other to become more powerful. As the game progresses players can join tribes to work together and fight against other tribes. Players are ranked both by points and by the number of opponents troops they have defeated. Although points are important, the number of troops you have is much more important in this game. If you have many points you are just a large target, but if you have many troops you can be a powerful force in your area.

Upon joining a world, you start with low level buildings and no troops. Generally you want to build your resources to a base level of 5, with clay 4 and iron 3. If the world has paladins and you are near abandoned villages the next thing you are going to want to build is a statue and then recruit a paladin. Then you can send him to the abandoned villages to get extra resources. Unless you don't have any abandoned villages anywhere nearby, you are going to need to get your barracks built. In order to build a barracks you need a level 3 HQ so build that and then build the barracks. Once you have built the barracks start recruiting spears and sending them to abandoned villages with the paladin. Eventually you will have enough extra resources to build a smithy and research axes. Keep recruiting both axes and spears and send them to abandoned villages. Whenever you have excess resources build your HQ to level 10, your barracks to level 5, and your smithy to level 5. Then build a stable and research scouts, use these scouts to farm better and when you have enough resources research light cavalry. Once you research light cavalry focus on recruiting them and axes because they are the best offensive troops in the game.

At this point, I just keep recruiting troops and upgrading resources and the barracks and stable. Although you don't need to only have offense, I prefer it because you can strike first at the players around you once beginner's protection is off. If you get attacked don't defend it but instead send all your troops out and spend all your resources so they don't get anything. Then you can send your offensive troops at them and clear out there village.

It is important that you don't show mercy and clear everyone around you as soon as possible because if you leave them alone for too long they will eventually be too strong for you. Once someone has been cleared you need to keep sending troops at them to take their resources so they can't rebuild (aka farming).

As long as you keep active, keep farming, and keep building axes and light cavalry you will eventually have enough excess resources to upgrade your village in no time and will be well on your way to getting your first noble.
