It can be grueling when you're out in 90 to 100 degree heat, sweating, overheated, and in danger of dehydration; but there are some tricks to keep you cool during the hot summer months so that you don't have to miss all of the beautiful summer days being cooped up inside.

Tricks to Keep You Cool During the Hot Summer Months: Drink Hot Tea

Yes, I did say hot tea. You'll want hot tea rather than cold because hot drinks help your body adjust and regulate to the hot temperature and cool down by producing sweat, rather than roasting in it, dehydrating and passing out. This is something that people living in extremely hot temperature zones of the world (like India) know and respect. Though it may be hard to make yourself ask for that hot tea while you're out and about on a sizzling hot summer day, your body will thank you for doing so.

Hot Tip to Go with Trick 1:

Also try eating something spicy; spicy foods have the same effect on a body in hot temperatures as hot drinks do. I'm sure you recall the last time you ate an extremely spicy dish and your eyes teared up and you began sweating just a little, right? Well it's the same concept, the spicy food causes your body to sweat which cools it down and allows it to regulate internal temperature.

Tricks to Keep You Cool During the Hot Summer Months: Replenish Electrolytes

This goes hand in hand with trick number 1. Since you likely won't be able to stand consuming hot beverages all day out in the hot sun, be sure to drink plenty of water. Whatever amount you typically need, you'll want to double your water intake on days out in the hot sun. We all know the benefits and necessities of getting our daily dosage of water, so I won't restate that, just be sure to remember to double it when out in the sun on very hot days.

Tricks to Keep You Cool During the Hot Summer Months: Cooling and Refreshing Face Mist

You'd be surprised how much a few shots of water misted on the face and neck can cool you down when out in the sun. The next time you're out shopping, try picking up one of the Evian face mists or save money and make your own by filling a small spray bottle with water. Store the little spray bottle in your purse (spray nozzle firmly locked so it won't soak your purse) for the next really hot day, then when you're out and the heat hits you can just pull out your spray bottle and give yourself an instant cool down. And no worries ladies, this is actually good for your make up and won't ruin it as long as you have the spray nozzle on mist setting rather than spray; you don't want a sharp heavy stream of water right in the face.

Tricks to Keep You Cool During the Hot Summer Months: Conclusion

The next time you're out on a hot summer day, try all three of these tricks to keep you cool so that you'll get the most out of your summer days.
