Welcome to the tricky turkey tirvia quiz, an annual tradition in my sphere. Every year when gathered around the table someone brings up the tricky quiz. Tricky because the answers are not always what you thought they might be and turkey, because the question.all have something to do with the turkey or the Thanksgiving holiday. Good Luck!

1. (E) All of the above were not served at the first Thanksgiving at Plymouth.
The only documented proof of the menu of the Thanksgiving at Plymouth mention venison and wild fowl. It is also thought that fish, lobster, clams and possibly corn were seved but the colonists didn't have potatoes, green beans or cranberries and there is no mention of turkey.

2. (B) Gimbels Department Store started the Thanksgiving Day Parade tradition in Philadelphia in 1920. Macys didn't start their annual holiday parade until four years later in 1924.

3. (D ) Great Barrington, MA. No there wasn't really even a restaurant named Alice's Restaurant back when the song and film were produced but Alice's house was in Great Barrington and it was there Arlo and friends spent that fateful Thanksgiving Day.

4. (B) Poult. Turkey offspring are called Poults.

5. (D) Israel. As of data collected in 2007, Israelis consume an average of 34.6 lbs of turkey per person as compared to the US where 16.1 lbs are consumed per person per year.(www.wiki.answers.com).

7. (C) Peregrine White. While Virginia Dare was the first child born in the "New World", in 1587, on Roanoke Island, White was the first Mayflower descendant born on American soil. Peregrine White was born in 1620, in Provincetown Harbor.

8. (D). Plymouth is not technically on Cape Cod Island at all. As natives know, it lies due north west of Cape Cod Island. To reach Cape Cod from Plymouth one must travel over the Bourne or Sagamore Bridge or travel by boat.

9. (D) George Herbert Walker Bush. While many think Harry Truman was the first US president to start the tradition of pardoning a turkey before Thanksgiving it was George H.W. Bush who started the tradition.

10. (B) Pizza Delivery. According to the American Restaurant Association, the night before Thanksgiving is the fourth-busiest pizza delivery day following Super Bowl Sunday, Halloween and New Years Eve.
