The auction is selling the memorabilia from the now closed Roy Rogers Museum in Branson, Missouri. The museum closed in Dec. of 2009 in part because of the economy and financial issues according to the Roger's family.

Christie's auction house has been overwhelmed with calls from everyone including museum representatives to Roy Roger's fans who just a piece of the King of Cowboys.
Roy Roger's, The King of Cowboys passed away in1998 at the age of 87. His beautiful wife, Dale Evans. The Queen of the West passed away in 2001 at the age of 88. Roy Rogers Jr. along with Dustin Roy Rogers will be performing at the Mickey Gilley Theatre in Branson, Missouri, continuing on with Roy Rogers legacy.
It's sad to see this era come to an end. It was a tradition at our house when I was growing up to watch Roy Rogers and Gene Autry westerns on our "black and white" TV.

Post a CommentWow! My science professor at University had a horse in a large glass case that he called "Trigger". He would even talk to it when he was frustrated with us, so I wonder if he bid on it!
How interesting! LOL to Abby!
Don't tell my husband,he'll want to bid!
I was madly in love with Roy Rogers, until I found out about Dale Evans. How could he have married someone else? Then, to make matters worse, he went and stuffed his horse and dog! Ugh. I just hope that the poor things wind up in a good home.
