Trina's Still Da Baddest May Take an Open Mind to Appreciate

The Reviewer
Trina is a female rapper based out of Miami, Florida. She has released three highly successful records and now she is back with her fourth album, Still The Baddest. Will Still The Baddest be able to live up to the legacy of her previous efforts?

The first single off of Still Da Baddest is Single Again. The song was a solid single to break the album. The song could loosely be based on Trina's alleged failed relationship with rapper Lil Wayne. The track features a solid beat which is similar to other hit singles out.

The second single is I Got A Thang For You featuring Keyshia Cole. The song is a fairly catchy R&B track. The chorus delivered by Keyshia is simple and melodic yet memorable. Trina delivers several solid verses and the song overall is one of the better tracks on the album.

I Got A Bottle features Missy Elliott. The song is not that strong considering it features two of the biggest female rappers in the game. The beat borders on annoying with its numerous sound effects.

On Hot Commodity Trina is joined by Miami based rapper Rick Ross. The song definitely shows off the ostentatious quality that is so prevalent in rap music today. The song seems to fit Rick Ross' style better than Trina's.

Wish I Never Met You features female R&B singer Shonie. The song is simplistic yet one of the strongest and most heartfelt tracks on the album.

Phone Sexx features male R&B singer Qwote. The song is definitely vintage Trina in terms of overt sexuality. The song however just does not capture the magic of previous Trina tracks.

Look Back At Me features Killer Mike. The track is definitely one of the more explicit tracks in recent memory however it just sounds forced.

Stop Traffic features fellow Miami based rapper Pitbull. The song features a minimalist beat however both rappers deliver strong verses to make up for the sonic deficiencies.

The title track Still Da Baddest features strong production which will definitely get you moving in the club. The song is catchy and very well executed.

Still Da Baddest is just what you expected from Trina. She is not known for her lyrical depth, but if you go into the album with an open mind you might actually enjoy it. Still Da Baddest gets 7 out of 10. If you are a fan of Trina make sure you pick up her new album Still Da Baddest when it is available in stores on April 1.
