Tri-Sprintec Birth Control for Hormone Therapy
Use of Birth Control Pills for the Balancing of Hormones
Now from personal experience I can only review the pill I took to balance my hormones out and those pills are Tri-Sprintec. When I told the ob what was going on, mood swings, depression, lethargy and heavy bleeding sometimes two weeks at a time all this had only been happening since giving birth, he told me of the use of birth control pills to regulate me and gave me a prescription for the pills. I was skeptical at first, I like many others do not care to put pills in my body after I gave birth I thought things will balance out, but two years later they still did not. It was not depression but it sure felt like it. I felt that after that amount of time it really could not hurt to try it out. I said one full month and we shall see.
Tri-Sprintec is one of the many different birth control pills that are on the market today. Tri-Sprintec is a generic form of Ortho-Tri-Cyclen. The are not like the mini pill that contains only progestin, tri-sprintec; Chemical name" ethinyl estradiol" semi synthetic estrogen. It lowers testosterone levels while working to activate estrogen receptors. A whole lot of medical terminology which in the end prevents pregnancy and balances out those hormones.
So after some debating in my mind I had the prescription filled and hesitantly took the first pill, then each day the next one followed. After about two weeks I noticed a slight improvement, actually my husband noticed it and told me. He said my moods improved I seemed to be a little easier to get along with, that sounds almost comical but trust me the mood swings were bad. I thought to myself "he is right I am feeling better". Months later still taking the pills and the heavy bleeding for two weeks at a time, gone, mood swings gone, feeling better mentally and physically I never thought I would get back to being me again but I did and so can many other woman. One added benefit is that my acne cleared up as well.
Obviously it is not for everyone, there are always the risk of side effects and just because something works for one person does not mean it will work for all, but if you are feeling moody, heavy bleeding etc... you might want to have a talk with your doctor/ob about trying out Tri-Sprintec or maybe another form of the birth control pill. There is no sense in suffering the ups and downs of post partum, and heavy bleeding if it can be brought to an end by such a simple and fairly easy method. It is fairly cheap 15-25 dollars a month and it even comes in it's very own cute little nifty pouch.
