'Troll' Strolls into Illinois

Animated Film was to Be Filmed in Iowa

Tim O'Brien
The toll of "Troll" is good news for animated feature films in Illinois. The upcoming production of this film may generate up to 120 jobs and take two-and-a-half years to complete.
So, as Illinois grapples with many of the same issues facing other states, movie news continue to trickle in.
This time, as the Illinois Senate wrapped up its business, a boost was given to a company called Great River Productions of Rock Island.
They were all set to make "Troll" in Iowa, however, certain circumstances surfaced, which brought it to an end.
That would be the fact that Iowa ended the incentives due to serious fraud allegations.
It has been rumored that Illinois is thinking of ending the program as well, but no word on that with the release of this news. And if they did, not for the same reasons.
The Illinois Senate approved a tax provision that would allow them to collect the already approved credits during the course of production, instead of waiting for the film to be completed.
