Tropical World
Neighborhood: Roundhay Park
Tropical World, located just outside of Leeds in Yorkshire, England, is a wonderful place to spend a rainy day with your children. Inexpensive, enjoyable for the whole family, and conveniently located to a wealth of attractions in Yorkshire, my children have spent hours enchanted by the tropical life available for viewing at Tropical World. Parents looking for the perfect way to spend a day in Leeds or the greater Yorkshire area should head to Tropical World.

Location of Tropical World
Tropical World is located just outside of the Leeds city centre, making it possible for travelers to avoid any major city traffic. Nearby gardens, parks, and pedestrian footpaths make Tropical World an ideal location for visitors hoping to explore nature outside as well as inside. Parking is plentiful across the street from Tropical World, and it can also be reached easily via bus. Located in a small village, there are pubs within walking distance, and a cafe attached to Tropical World serves a delicious lunch or cup of tea.

Before Heading to Tropical World
Visitors with small children may want to leave the big stroller or pushchair behind. An umbrella stroller is the perfect size for exploring Tropical World, but a larger stroller or double stroller may be to big to maneuver once you get inside. Also, it can be quite warm inside the rainforest sections of Tropical World, even if the weather is chilly outside. So, be sure to dress in layers or you'll end up sweating and rushing through the exhibits instead of enjoying them. Children under 8 years old are free at Tropical World, with adults costing 3 pounds each. Bring along a little extra money and buy a bag of fish food to feed the fish and the terrapins! The gift shop at Tropical World includes relevant stuffed animals, books, videos, and educational materials, so visitors may want to build a little into their budget for a small souvenir too.

Exploring Tropical World
Tropical World is much bigger than it may appear from the outside. Visitors will walk through different sections of the small aquarium, including the rainforest with fluttering butterflies and a desert with meercats. Children and adults can feed the fish while walking across the bridge in the rainforest as well as the terrapins from Maryland after they pass by the waterfall. The nocturnal world also includes bats, snakes, and spiders for children to take a look at. Other tropical life at Tropical World include lizards, birds, mice, lemurs, tamarinds, and much more. Children will be delighted by all the things there are to see and get up close to at Tropical World.

Tropical World is a wonderful way to spend an inexpensive day with children near Leeds, England. Travelers with children and families throughout the greater Yorkshire area should consider stopping and spending a few hours in this entertaining small aquarium. They won't be disappointed.

Kelly I used to live near Leeds. I think it's improved a lot from the way it was when I lived there 25 years ago :-) It was always a nice city though. Nice article!

I walked all the way from Leeds to Bradford one day. That's nothing to the English but no one even walks to the mailbox in Florida.

This sounds really fun. Too bad I'm not in England. So, I guess if I ever go there, I can't bring my big double stroller, eh? LOL Oh well, the toddlers would probably be too busy running from station to station to be bothered by the stroller anyway. :-)
