Trouble Getting to Sleep? No Medication Required

A Few Helpful Tips on Falling Asleep Faster Without Medications

Blunt Force Drama
I used to have trouble falling asleep at night, leaving me exhausted every morning. With a few changes in your daily routine, you may be able to fall asleep faster. Here are 5 things that have helped me.

1. Relax - Many things can happen throughout the day, leaving you thinking or worrying about them at night. This can be troublesome for you when you are trying to fall asleep. To be able to fall asleep you need a clear head. Worrying about work, the kids, or bills is not what you need on your mind. Make sure when you get home from work, you do all of your activities as early as possible. Things like exercise, cleaning, and laundry will boost your energy. Even though you may feel tired while doing them, it will get your heart pumping and it tends to make you more active. I've found that reading is a great way to relax.

2. Avoid the Obvious - Don't drink caffeine or intake too much sugar. Everyone knows that these two things will wake you up and that's the last thing you want late at night. Plus, by avoiding those sugar products, you will help in your daily diet of not adding on any extra pounds!

3. Feeling Obligated? - Just because it's getting late doesn't mean you have to go to bed right away. You should go to bed when you start to feel sleepy. Some people feel like they need to be in bed by a certain time to justify themselves. When it starts to get a little later and you're laying in bed not able to fall asleep it can make you anxious which will keep you awake.

4. Replace that old Mattress - Many people don't know it but this could be the cause of sleepless nights. Most people need to be comfortable to fall asleep, especially those already having trouble. A good mattress can cost a few hundred dollars but it will last you a long time and be well worth the buy.

5. Maintain Your Routine - Everyone likes to stay up later on the weekends but don't make it too late. Your body reacts to your daily routines. If you go to bed at a reasonable time during the week, then you should do the same on the weekends. Staying up 4-5 hrs later on the days you have off, can throw your body out of balance. I have done this many of times in the past and it just ends up making me more tired.

Different sleep methods work for different people. If you see one of these things above as something that might help you, then give it a try. It's always best to try and relieve a problem without depending on medication.
