Troy, Alabama Serves Up New Restaurants

Momma Goldberg's Firehouse Subs and Asiago's and the Vino Bar Are Recent Additions

J.E. Ward
For a small city, Troy, Alabama is home to an eclectic variety of restaurants that satisfy the tastes and dining experiences of every citizen. Troy is a college town. Because of the diversity in population, restaurants that you would find in large cities locate here and enjoy a profitable market. The most recent additions to our repertoire of good eating establishments are Momma Goldberg's, Firehouse Subs and Asiago's and the Vino Bar.

Momma Goldberg's

Momma Goldberg's Delis is located in Troy's historic downtown district on the square at 69 Court Square. They serve delicatessen sandwiches, soups, salads and nachos. Ask anybody in town about Momma's Love, but don't be shy about trying other specialty sandwiches, like the Big Daddy, Big Momma, Camel Rider or Pastrami Momma. They sell a variety of Hoagies and veggie sandwiches. My personal favorite is the Reuben served with plenty of sauerkraut and sauce. Momma Goldberg's is located in one of Troy's historic buildings. The atmosphere at lunch is calm and relaxing while you enjoy an excellent sandwich. Diners can also enjoy their sandwiches at an outside table on a pleasant day. Momma Goldberg's Deli is open every day at 10 a.m. They cater. You may go to their website here:

Firehouse Subs

Troy continues to attract great restaurants. Another great sandwich shop coming to town is Firehouse Subs. Firehouse in Troy may not be open yet, but this is one fan that can't wait until they do. Every day we see signs that opening day will be soon as we pass the store located on U.S. Highway 231 near Daylight Doughnuts. Firehouse Subs serves up big meaty subs on toasted buns that melt in your mouth. What makes them even cooler (or should I say hotter) is the Firehouse Subs Foundation. A percentage of proceeds from the restaurant go toward making buying tools and equipment for local fire departments. Firehouse Subs not only serves great food, but they give back to the community. Hopefully, they will be open soon. For more information, visit here:

Asiago's and the Vino Bar

Located at 100 Emma Drive, Asiago's and the Vino Bar opened in Troy late last year. They specialize in Italian and Greek food, seafood and steaks. Their menu includes classic Italian favorites such as lasagna, pastas and pizza. They also serve up a giant juicy hamburger that could feed two people. Asiago's and the Vino Bar is a casual dining experience. The interior has old world flair, and it is very relaxing. They are now open for lunch as well as dinner. You can call ahead and make reservations or walk in. Groups can reserve a room for meetings. And they cater. Asiago's and the Vino Bar serves fine wines. They also feature live entertainment from time to time. They open for dinner at 4 p.m. They can be found on Facebook here:

If you live in or near Troy, or if you're visiting on business or pleasure, or if you're just passing through town, Troy restaurants are an excellent place to "get your grub on." Momma Goldberg's, Firehouse Subs and Asiago's and the Vino Bar are three great places to enjoy good food and good atmosphere.
