Troy in Michigan is One of the Greatest Cities of the Midwest

Troy, Michigan is the 12^th largest city in the state of Michigan (according to the population). CNN actually ranked Troy number 22 on the list of the "Best Places to Live" in the US.

Not only are there many housing developments, and businesses in the area, but there are also great restaurants, hotels and shopping malls.

The main shopping malls located in Troy can be an upscale experience or a casual shopping experience. Somerset Collection which is the upscale mall features a skywalk which connects itself to the Oakland mall. The Oakland mall features over 180 stores full of anything you would ever want or need. These malls are a true shopper's paradise. Being a shopaholic myself, I found myself entering at lunchtime and leaving close to dinner time. It can be a dangerous concept to those who are like me.

Troy is also home to the "Troy Sports Center" which is the training spot for the NHL's Detroit Red Wings. For sports fanatics, this is a great place to visit to watch indoor soccer, hockey or just the history of this great sports center.

The restaurants in this great city are unbeatable. My absolute favorite is Picano's Restaurant & Lounge. This restaurant is said to have the best Italian cuisine in the entire Detroit area. You can locate this restaurant at 3775 Rochester Road, Troy, MI. You can also visit fan favorites like, PF Changs which is located at the Somerset Collection mall, or the Melting Pot restaurant which is a fondue experience you'll never forget. The Melting Pot is located at 888 West Big Beaver Road, Troy, MI.

The reason for the population being so large in this area is due to the major businesses located in this city; these top companies employ thousands and thousands of people each. You can find companies such as, Bank of America (major center), SAE International, Starz Home Entertainment, Kelly Services, and Delphi Corporation.

If you're visiting from out of town and need a hotel to stay in, there are some great options to choose from. The Embassy Suites of Detroit is located in Troy, and has been rated a 4 star hotel. There is also, Candlewood Suites Detroit, Detroit Marriott Troy or Somerset Inn (which is located at the Somerset Mall). For easy transportation purposes, Big Beaver Airport is located directly in Troy, while it's not a major airport; there are still many flights that go in and out daily.

Whether you're visiting troy on business, or to see family, there's no doubt that you wouldn't thoroughly enjoy your visit.
