Truck Balls: Florida State Senate Wastes Time on Car Accessory Censorship

Retailers are Desperate While Florida Argues About "Truck Balls" AKA "Truck Nuts"

df12364
In central Florida there is a novelty that several people display on their trucks that has the Senate fuming. So much so that they have devoted more hours to it's abolishment than to the crises at hand-housing and fuel prices. The novelty, or "ornament" as some call them, is "truck balls" or "truck nuts". They are a set of steel or rubber balls that hang from a bumper or hitch. They are made to resemble those of a bull. Shame...shame...shame.

What about the fuel prices?

Since February 1 of 2008, the price of diesel fuel has shot up 70 cents per gallon on average. The local store that gets my fuel business, everyday, has been lower than anyone else around, by a couple of pennies anyhow. After talking to the owners today, it is clear that they are taking a larger beating than we the consumers are. In an attempt to keep loyal customers and create repeat business, they have foregone the profit taking that the other 'big' guys have exercised. It is clear that they can't continue on in that fashion. The sad part is that most consumers don't understand the risk involved in keeping your prices lower. When they are charging as much or a penny or two more, there will be dissension in the ranks. Shame...shame...shame.

Where are the balls in the Senate?

It is a Friday afternoon, and the Senate has been gone from Tallahassee since Thursday afternoon. Fuel prices went up again today. More truck balls were purchased by truck owners that buy the fuel that keeps the ball rolling, no pun intended! But, and this may sound harsh, where are the balls of those in Congress that are so quick to preach about how much they will do for us to get elected? They have balls enough to lie about issues like real estate reform and taxes, but won't even speak out about the current issue-fuel prices. Wasting so much time on an infantile ornament and its abolishment is absolutely ludicrous. By the time they debate this until it is dead, there will 100 or more local stores going out of business and for sale signs posted. Shame...shame...shame.

Can we make it through summer?

Sorry kids, we had to cancel our vacation altogether. Remember that camper we bought a few years ago and the diesel truck to pull it with? Well, we can't afford to start it let alone move it to another state, or anywhere else for that matter. The prices of fuel are so far gone, it will take a complete and utter shut down to stop the downward spiraling. But at least we will have heard the entire debate on truck nuts. When I am pumping $5 a gallon diesel into my truck for the last time, I will look at the balls on my trailer hitch, and say "Now that is a set of balls. And to think they were thinking of removing them, like they had theirs removed". The balls will survive, but retailers and consumers can't and won't. Shame...shame...shame.

Can I sell my truck with balls on eBay?

EBay will let you list a lot of things for sale on their auction website. Certainly everyone has looked on eBay for something. Having sold several thousand things, we have discovered that the more infamous something gets, the better it sells. All you guys that have big gas and diesel trucks with big truck balls on the back, fear not. The item you dangle from your bumper is a novelty item or an ornament. It is an accessory, so you can list it on eBay and get your money back to put fuel in your truck. Especially with the talk soup about these ornaments all over the place, they have just increased in value. You can even sell the truck with the balls included if you like. Display them proudly, before they are kicked around in the Senate. Just another excuse for them to kick you in your truck balls and/or truck nuts. Shame...shame...shame.

In closing, just a few thoughts. When we allow these types of events to happen without voicing some concern and opinion, we don't have control over the outcome. Contacting your local politicians and make your voice heard. Setting back and saying or doing nothing gets exactly that done-nothing. Write about this idiotic attempt to remove another one of our freedoms. Make flyers and hand them out at the mall. Have all your friends pool what money they have and start a website to alert people to these types of things that jeopardize our freedoms.
