Truckdriver Gets Hung Up at Burger King in Ashland New Hampshire

Melody W. Doc of District 13
While waiting for my husband to pick up supplies at Ashland Lumber today, 12/18/09, I noticed the porch of the lumber company rapidly filling with contractors. Each one had a curious yet confused look on their face as they looked in the direction of my van. Wondering if something was wrong with me I looked about and found nothing out of the ordinary. That is when it struck me to look behind me.

Upon turning around I found the most curious site I had ever set eyes on. Hanging precariously from a very large snow bank was an 18 wheeler from Northeast Transfer, Inc. From what I could ascertain, it looks as if he were trying to make the corner into the Burger King parking lot when the mishap occurred. A combination of the obtrusive snow bank and the breadth of the turn into the parking lot appeared to be the ultimate cause of the accident.

Workers at Ashland Lumber noticed the mishap and immediately sprung into action by lifting the rear of the truck up with forklifts. As the truck's rear headed skyward the forklift driver would then shimmy the trucks backside back and forth in an attempt to jar it loose from the snow bank. After several failed attempts a final attempt was made which brought the embarrassed trucker's wheels back onto the pavement, allowing him to make his turn into Burger King at last.

After the truck was safely released from blocking lunchtime traffic, the good folks at Ashland Lumber grabbed a tractor and began to push back the opposing snow bank to prevent further mishaps. Way to go Ashland Lumber for your efforts to clear up the situation without involving the police or tow trucks. And a big thanks to Northeast Transfer, Inc. for the fine entertainment that Doc enjoyed as she ate her lunch. I never thought I would be enjoying a little light dinner theater on my way to the jobsite.
