Trucking Alone Down 17 Mile Drive

Steven Jacob Borthick
I keep trucking down the road
The trees block the starlight
And the streetlights are dim, too dim
I can't see twenty feet ahead
Miles away, I hear the cars
A siren! From behind.
I wait as the siren draws near
I'm just exhausted
I can finally see the headlights
Jump and wave! Get his attention!
But the cop speeds on by
And so I'm left alone
Trucking alone, down 17 Mile Drive.
