Like a tree rooted in the ground,

How can you want to express love
for someone who does not return the care?
After what seems like so long,
the feelings are strong and still there.
How can you say your heart
belongs to someone who will not take it?
Sometimes you feel so alone,
you fear you may not make it.
Why do you want to tell them,
though you know what they will say?
It does not matter what happens
You can't stop loving them either way.
Why does life seem better
when you can breathe the same air they do?
