"True Beauty" 5/31 Recap, Episode 1 - "Face of Vegas" Contestants Arrive

Contestants walk down a runway as they're introduced at the luxurious Planet Hollywood hotel in Las Vegas. They each introduced themselves, self-lovingly in front of the camera. For a list of contestants, click here.

Shown to their hotel, the fight over beds and bedrooms began. There, the competition began to get crazy.

Erika and Liz were worried about which bed they were going to get. They pushed everyone around and demanded to get the beds they wanted, targeting Michael and Taylor. Taylor didn't find the fight worth it with Liz, so he told Liz to "just take the bed."

Amy lines herself up with Regina, the other "Jersey" girl. She said the men were there to be "man candy."

Regina doesn't like Liz and Amy tells her, "The bitches - they always make it far, but they never win. That's the bottom line."

During bathroom preps, David, talks about high maintenance hair.

"True Beauty" 5/31 Recap, Episode 1 - "Face of Vegas" Stealing Challenge

Carson Kressley tells the contestants their first challenge to take $200 and create an alter-ego Vegas look within 30 minutes. What they don't know is, as they arrive to the boutique one by one, an actress named Paige acts as a boutique clerk who persuades them to steal an item they otherwise couldn't afford. Once the cashier leaves, will the contestants cheat and steal the item offered to them?
First up is Michelle wanting a cabaret/style 50's pinup look. Michelle passed and refused to steal.
Second, Amy came in. She wanted to do a Vegas bride look. She was uncomfortable taking an extra accessory and declined. Pass!
Next in was Craig wanting a Vegas cowboy alter ego. Carson Kressley didn't think he would agree to steal something, but he took the vest. Oops, you failed, Craig!
Taylor told Paige he wanted a hard rock/rocker style. She offered him some hot sunglasses, but he had no trouble saying no. Pass! Kressley says, "Beautiful inside and out!"
The next contestant in the boutique was Regina. She wanted to be Lady Luck and would not steal when offered a boa from Paige. Pass!
Erika wanted the Marilyn Monroe look. Paige offered her the shoes, but Erika couldn't do it. Pass!
Michael wants to be a Las Vegas pimp style. Paige told him she thought he needed the shirt he couldn't afford. He took it. Fail!
David wanted to do a look of Elvis. He wouldn't take a scarf Paige insisted he use for the look. Pass!
JD waltzed in wanting to do a drag queen look. He agreed to steal a small item from Paige. Fail!
Liz just wanted to show off her body with a glamorous, sexy look. She hated everything Paige showed her in the store. Paige told her she was difficult. Finally, when Paige shows her something not on the rack, she stole it readily, holding open her bag. Big time fail!

"True Beauty" 5/31 Recap, Episode 1 - "Face of Vegas" Contestants in Glass Cases

Regina noticed Liz was wearing the item she wanted for her look and thought it was odd she cold afford it because Paige told her it was $330. Liz just said it was the only one under $200. Michelle thought something was up with that.

The contestant that earned the most Vegas chips in the glass case wins the challenge with their alter-ego look. Regina's Lady Luck was doing great, but Erika's Marilyn Monroe look wasn't doing as well. Michelle said it was tough being next to Liz, shaking her body in a revealing outfit.

David was put out his Elvis look wasn't getting him more chips, but . JD was getting more laughs for his drag look, "seducing the walls," as said.

Liz won the challenge.
Michael, David, and JD had the lowest number. Michael was safe, and the other two were up for the final face-off elimination.

"True Beauty" 5/31 Recap, Episode 1 - Judges' Deliberations

Liz one because she had an unfair advantage. Because she won the alter-ego challenge, she won't face elimination, but the judges will keep their eyes on her.
David's energy was high in the beginning, but lost it and seemed to not care after that.
JD wants to remain on "True Beauty," but he failed the stealing challenge.

"True Beauty" 5/31 Recap, Episode 1 - One Final Challenge for David and JD

Vanessa Minnillo told the other two judges a hidden challenge was underway as the contestants were shopping. An actress posing as a dog owner was trying to untangle her do from a sign outside the boutique door. Would JD and David help the lady, who was asking for help?

JD gladly helped her untangle the dog, but David said he was too busy to help.

"True Beauty" 5/31 Recap, Episode 1 - Elimination and Vanessa Minnillo Reappears

It's down to JD and David. Although JD helped the lady with her dog in the final challenge, it wasn't enough. He was let go and didn't blink an eye when Vanessa Minnillo walked in. He only uttered that he believed he had the total package of a true beauty and left without saying anything more.

Arguably the best part of the whole show - the eliminated contestant must face his or her actions when the truth comes out of what this competition is really all about - inner beauty as well as outer.
