True Blood 'Battle of the Fang' Results: Team Bill Wins, Both Raise Money for Charity

The Official Results of the Charity Competition Between Fans of the Leading True Blood Vampires!

Lori May
The 'Battle of the Fang,' a charity grudge match endorsed by True Blood's Stephen Moyer (Bill) and Alexander SkarsgÄrd (Eric), has announced the winning vampire: Stephen and Team Bill. The competition was announced in June, just prior to the premiere episode of True Blood season 3; the official rules stated that the contest, which accepted donations for charities chosen by each of the competing actors, would run the length of True Blood season 3. Read more about the contest in my Battle of the Fang announcement article.

Fans of the two True Blood vampires received a raffle ticket for every $5 donated to either of the selected charities-money very well spent, not only for a good cause but also for a chance to win some amazing True Blood prizes. The grand prize is the T-Shirt designed by the winning "Vampire" and his Team, to be worn by the losing "Vampire." Personally, I could get behind owning anything Eric (Alexander) has touched!

According to the official 'Battle of the Fang' website, the final totals for donations were an impressive $34,223 for Team Eric and his charity, SOS Children's Villages, and $35,043 in total for Team Bill and the Gulf Relief Foundation. That means Team Bill and Stephen Moyer won the 'Battle of the Fang' contest with less than $1000 difference between the totals! More importantly, both teams netted well over $30,000 for the selected charities for each of the two True Blood "vampires."

In addition to the charity grudge match and the donation competition, Stephen Moyer donated an impressive array of True Blood items to the charity eBay action and give-away contests hosted by the folks behind the 'Battle of the Fang.' Donors to the winning charity-Team Bill, as it were-were automatically entered into a contest to win the winning T-Shirt design worn by "Eric" at the conclusion of the contest. Several of the items donated by Stephen, including signed DVD sets of True Blood, and the "sock of destiny" worn during sex scenes in a rather intimate location. The winner(s) of these give-away contests have yet to be announced on the official 'Battle of the Fang' website, as of late September.

With such an overwhelming following of fans, True Blood and the actors involved in the hit HBO TV show have an immense potential for raising awareness, donations and support to their respective charities. Anna Paquin, the actress behind the vulnerable but capable Sookie Stackhouse, recently became an advocate for the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender community through the 'Give a Damn' foundation. The 'Battle of the Fang' is merely one example of two actors utilizing their fame-and their compassion for their chosen charities-to make a difference. Although I selected Team Eric as my chosen "Fang," I am pleased to see the good work done by everyone who participated in the 'Battle of the Fang,' and I extend a sincere congratulations to Stephen Moyer and everyone on Team Bill.
