True Blood: Best Vampire Show Since Buffy

This show is about vampires who are living out in the open with human beings. As much as that sounds very intriguing, the best thing about the show is Sookie Stackhouse who is played by the lovely Anna Paquin. Sookie Stackhouse is a Jesus loving, good girl with an unusual talent. She can read minds. She can literally hear what people are thinking which can be a hassle for her sometimes. She also works as a barmaid in a small Louisiana town. Her life mainly consists of her working all the time to provide money for her grandmother.

Her friends mainly consist of her loyal boss Sam, who is also in love with her, and Tara. Tara has been friends with Sookie ever since Kindergarten. Tara has a little anger management problem. Well, she has a big anger management problem. Tara used to work at a local retail store but unfortunately her temper got her canned. The actress playing Tara is Ruthie Wesley. She has only been in one movie called How She Moves but she is another reason to watch the show with her thick country accent and snappy attitude. She brings comedy to the show with her undying love for Sookie's brother Jason. Jason seems like a normal country boy until he kills a woman. Jason was shacking up with the town slut when he finds out that she slept with a vampire. He was turned off but slightly curious about having sex with a vampire. She tells him that she likes it rough so they began having rough sex. But Jason took it too far and strangled her to death.

Even though all of this drama is happening in Sookie's little town, her main interest is in newcomer Bill Compton. Bill Compton is a vampire who shows up in Sookie's bar looking for some synthetic blood. In return, he meets a couple who befriends him but they only want his blood. They tried to steal his blood but Sookie rescues him. They swear to get revenge which at the end of the episode they did. They beat Sookie to near death. But we all know who will come to her rescue.

This show is the hottest show of the season. The writing on this show is the best I have seen since Doctor Who. I'm glad to see Anna Paquin in another science fiction role. At first I didn't recognize her because I'm used to seeing her playing a dark hair loner girl. This is her best acting yet. To catch True Blood on television it plays at 10:00pm Sundays on HBO with reruns playing all through the week.
