True Blood Halloween Costume Tips: Sookie Stackhouse

Become Sookie Stackhouse for Halloween!

Sookie Stackhouse is a telepathic waitress who falls in love with vampire Bill Compton in the HBO TV series True Blood. To read more about her character and view her photo galleries for visual aids, check out the True Blood's website.

So, if you'd like to be Sookie Stackhouse for Halloween, here are some tips on a great costume:

For Sookie's clothing, you can choose between her Merlotte's waitress outfit or a white slip dress. With the Merlotte's shirt, you can order them online or make your own. It's a simple white t-shirt with a green logo on the left that says Merlotte's. If you buy those printer t-shirt iron ons, you can use your computer and printer to make this logo and shirt yourself quite easily and cheaply. Another option is to use clothing paint from crafts stores and just draw the logo on the shirt by hand.

Also with the Merlotte's outfit, you'll need black shorts and a waitress's green "apron" wrapped around your waist. Carry a pen or pencil and a note pad in the apron. Wear black sneakers too.

Sookie is blonde, so if you don't have blonde locks, consider buying a medium length blonde wig.

Sookie usually wears her hair in a pony tail at Merlotte's. On the other hand, if you're choosing to wear the dress for the sexier Sookie Stackhouse, wear your hair down with a small white headband pushing the hair away from your face.

Sookie doesn't wear a lot of makeup, so keep that part light. A little bit of powder foundation, light blush, light color lipstick or lip gloss, mascara, nothing dark or fake looking.

Glueing on a fake Bill Compton vampire "kiss" wound (found at Halloween stores) would be a neat addition. It could have fake blood flowing from it too if you want.

Last but not least, Sookie must have a polite, friendly, Louisiana accent. Do your best, it doesn't have to be perfect! Look at videos online with Louisiana speech and practice beforehand.

If your boyfriend or friend would like to go out on Halloween as Bill Compton, that would be an awesome way to "complete" this costume idea too! Also, gather up a few friends and you all can go as different True Blood characters. Have fun with it!
