"True Blood" - the Perils of Sookie

Will Sookie Really Die? Will Bill Become a Day-Walker?

Sookie was attacked by Lorena last week...will Sookie really die?

The mother of all strange soaps, True Blood, airs every Sunday night on HBO at 9/8C and seems to be the latest rage. Vampires and werewolves living amongst humans openly. Those who rage against the Harry Potter series where witches live secretly among humans do not seem to be so bent out of shape as long as it's a vampire or werewolf...anything but a witch. Who'd have thought...

Sookie Stackhouse appears to be a telepath. She also has other powers that we do not quite understand and, by the way, she is human. The love of her life is a dead man...oops...a vampire named Bill Compton who is arguably several hundred years older than her. Sookie and Bill used to live happily in Louisiana.

A few weeks ago, Bill was kidnapped by a pack of werewolves at the command of another vampire who just happens to be the King of Mississippi. The werewolves fed on Bill so much that he almost died from blood loss. The werewolves ended up in a car wreck in which Bill escaped. Weakened, Bill found a senior citizen to feed on and regain his strength. Out of respect for the poor woman he just fed on, Bill hypnotized her to make her forget he had ever been there and gave her some money, telling her that her son had sent it to her. Such a courteous blood sucker!

Bill then found himself surrounded again by the werewolves but held his own in a less than fair fight with three of the critters (thanks to Granny). Bill killed one werewolf and was about to tie it on again with the others when the King of Mississippi, himself, rode up on his horse to save the day.

The King was not happy that his hairy servants had fed from his guest that he had ordered kidnapped, so he pulled out his gun (silver bullets included) and shot one of them.

A few weeks and many twists and turns later, we leave Bill secured to the floor inside the King's servants quarters. The vampire that has been obsessing over Bill for the last several hundred years, Lorena, has been charged with killing Bill. Lorena doesn't want to kill him but she puts a severe hurting on him while trying to convince him that she loves him. She hates the idea that Bill would waste his time on a human (Sookie) and if you thought jealousy between humans was tough...you ain't seen nothing until you see a green eyed vampire.

Sookie is being held in the King's house while Bill is being tortured not knowing that a good friend of hers, Tara, is also being held there by a vampire that has the hots for her. Tara pummels her vampire captor in the head with a mideaval weapon to escape and then helps to free Sookie.

Instead of running with Tara, Sookie is determined to save Bill so she heads for the slave quarters. She pokes her head in the door, shining sunlight on Bill's bloody corpse...oh wait, he's BEEN DEAD for a while now...then scrambles inside , shutting the door behind her so he won't catch on fire. The room appears empty except for Bill so she goes to his side, kneels down and tells him he can't die...ironic, no?

Bill finally moves a bit, Sookie smiles and Lorena comes out of nowhere to pin Sookie against the wall. Lorena's anger, resentment and jealousy all come out at once as she tells Sookie that it is all her fault and then she sinks her fangs into poor Sookie.

Teasers from future episodes have suggested that Sookie ends up in the hospital with two sets of fang marks in her neck. Other teasers have shown Tara calling Sookie's next of kin with orders to get to the hospital quick because there isn't much time. Still another teaser shows Bill visiting Sookie in the hospital (were the second set of fang marks his?). The most intriguing teaser shows Bill standing in the morning sun without burning to a crisp.

Did Bill feed on Sookie in some warped way to try and save her life? Will he be a day-walker?

Will Sookie really die? Will Bill finally die or will he be resurrected as more than the vampire he was? There is only one way to find out...
