True Blood : Spoilers for Season 3

For all of you die-hard True Blood fans out there, Michael Ausiello has some new spoiler scoop. In season 2 of True Blood, we had one major villain in the form of Dionysian devotee Maryann. According to executive producer Alan Ball, season 3 of True Blood will give us three big baddies to hate:

"We have a triumvirate of evil this season," reveals exec producer Alan Ball. "I'm talking about Franklin Mott, Russell Edgington, and Debbie Pelt. They are all bad to the bone. They're not just crazy, they're evil."

I've read all of Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse books, and I don't remember Russell Edgington as being particularly evil. He was involved in a devious act regarding Bill, but he seemed to be more of a secondary character. I'm excited to see where Alan Ball and company take Russell. I'm also intrigued about the role of Franklin Mott. If he's truly crazy I feel sorry for Tara. The poor girl has bad luck with boyfriends!

I know that many True Blood fans are anxious to know who'll be cast as Debbie Pelt. Ball says that they haven't found the perfect actress yet. Alcide's psycho ex-girlfriend will have an expanded role, however:

"We actually beefed up Debbie," he says. "She's going to be in more episodes, so maybe that will have an impact on [what actress] we can get for her, which is a big question right now."

Ausiello had the good fortune to talk to gorgeous Alexander Skarsgard at the Golden Globe awards. Alex gave him some hints about vampire sheriff Eric's motivation in the upcoming season:

"I'd say it's about revenge," he told me. "He will continue to explore the whole Sookie thing and what that's all about. He's trying to figure out what's different about her. He's intrigued by that. And in addition to that, there's something that happened a thousand years ago that he's still carrying in his heart. All I'll say is he's trying to avenge someone."

Who is Eric trying to avenge? Given that its something that happened a thousand years ago, it could have something to do with his recently-departed maker, Godric. Some of us True Blood fans adored Godric, so hopefully we'll see more of him in the future. Of course, there's tons that we don't know about Eric's past. Could it have something to do with his past-life family?

During the True Blood season 2 finale show, bar owner Sam Merlotte drank some of vampire Bill's blood to heal a mortal wound. Eagle-eyed forum and blog posters immediately questioned the effect it would have on Sam. After all, Sookie and Lafayette both had erotic dreams about Eric when they ingested his ancient blood. Guess what? The fans are right! Alan Ball has indicated that Bill and Sam will have an erotic connection. Kudos to True Blood for staying consistent and to the fans for being observant.
