True Blood Star Alexander Skarsgard to Join Straw Dogs

The sheriff in True Blood town has made his way to remake-ville alongside the best of 'em. According to Yahoo Movies, True Blood star Alexander Skarsgard has joined the cast of Straw Dogs, a remake of the 1971 Sam Peckinpah cult classic thrill ride.

Skarsgard is best known for his work in True Blood, but he has also worked on Zoolander, Generation Kill, and many foreign films and television series. Skarsgard is also associated with up-coming films Metropia and Beyond the Pole.

Skarsgard joins James Marsden in the cast for Straw Dogs, which will be directed by Rod Lurie.

According to Yahoo, "Skarsgard will play Charlie, described as a grizzled, athletic type."

Skarsgard is regarded by his True Blood fans as one of the best-looking vampires of the series, and with all of the Twilight and True Blood craze surrounding vampire series, it is no surprise that Skarsgard has become a familiar name in many circles of late.

His work in Straw Dogs should serve to break him of the looming mould offered by popularity in a singular series, and will help to give Skarsgard the cho(m)ps to break out properly in the film community.
