True Blood's Lorena: How to Achieve the Look of TV's Most Glamorous Vampire

Lori Jill Shirley
Ask me who I think the most stylish character on True Blood is and my answer is always the same. Lorena. An evil, yet elegant vampire who is several centuries old, this vamp knows fashion inside and out. After all, she has worn everything from hoop skirts to miniskirts and everything else in between. Lorena's style can best be summed up as glamorous, classic, and of course, vampy. Here is a style guide for the regular human female on how to achieve the look of True Blood's vampire Lorena.

Lorena is all about seductive. No frilly pinks or pastels for this vampire, Lorena is almost always wearing clothes that are either black, red, silver, or sometimes green. She is very feminine as well, and is always wearing skirts or dresses in elegant fabrics such as lace, satin, silk, or sequins. Express for Women carries many dresses and skirts that fall into that category, as well as sexy sequin and lace tops in dark, fetching colors. When putting together a Lorena-esque ensemble, pick out cuts and styles that are both sexy and classic. For instance, a black mini skirt paired with a conservative white ruffled blouse and classic accessories is a perfect choice for this look. This is keeping in tune with Lorena's fashion forward, yet timeless style.

One look that Lorena had last season that I thought was fun, was the satin negligee she wore at the hotel where she was keeping poor old Bill hostage. This was a more laid back look, and is what I'd like to believe is Lorena's 'casual' style. A fun way to rock this look is to pair a pretty satin full slip with a fitted black blazer and strappy high heel sandals. This is a neat way to pull off wearing lingerie in public without being indecent. Check out Victoria's Secret Online and Secrets in Lace for beautiful half slips and nighties.

Like any true fashionista, Lorena knows how to rock accessories. Having been around for every era of fashion over the past century, she knows that a lady always wears gloves and stockings with her dresses. These can be found for sale at Hot Topic or ModCloth.com, and when wearing stockings with your Lorena ensemble, definitely go with black ones, and preferably ones with seams up the back to emphasize the 'vampiness' of your look. As for your shoes, pretty high heel pumps and sandals are the only way to go. While ballet flats look sweet on baby vampire Jessica, Lorena is a veteran vamp, and is always sporting stylish, diva heels. Last but not least, finish off your look with classic looking jewelry. Lorena is always wearing pretty jewelry that is probably from a long ago era, and the company '1928 Jewelry' sells inexpensive replicas of jewelry from the Art Deco era. This brand is found for sale at most major department stores.

For your make up, you will want to keep it somewhat pale. Lorena IS a vampire after all, and has not had a good tan in centuries. Use a light colored powder and soft rose colored blush on your face, and fix up your eyes with a fair amount of eye make-up. For your lips, I would go with a blood red or dark colored lipstick (Revlon is my favorite make-up brand to use for this look), or go with a dark colored lip gloss. Paint your nails black or blood red as a finishing touch. Fangs are optional.

Lastly, when going out on the town in the style of television's most glamorous vampire, always carry yourself with class and sophistication. While Lorena may be a bloodthirsty killer, she has experience in being a woman of the world, and therefore carries herself well. Have fun playing dress-up!
