Walking to and fro, wishing for some snow.
No one notices what I see, because everyone is just too busy.
I watch everyone buy new things, thinking that is the only joy they can bring.
Not everyone can afford this year, this traditional materialistic cheer.
What really matters most, is not a glass of wine to toast,
Or who buys the most, or even the generous host.
But the cheerful and meaningful smile, coming from a pleasurable worthwhile.
Having everyone you love near, glad for another year.
Just happy to be out and truly knowing what it's all about.
Not all the material gifts and not even the snow drifts.
Being surrounded by love, and hearing a gentle coo from a dove.
The cheer that beams is what this holiday season means.
Giving something from the heart; making your own priceless piece of art.
A handmade gift grandma made; a brand new dollar for making the grade.
Knowing your true holiday cheer is what really matters every year.

I really enjoy writing. I also have been doing a lot of healthy cooking for myself. I have been making an effort to work on my writing once again. I hope you enjoy. View profile
