The True Colors Tour, in support of the Human Rights Campaign, will kick off its inaugural tour on June 8, 2007 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena is Las Vegas, with fifteen additional concerts scheduled throughout the nation.

The sixteen-city tour begins on June 8th to kick off Gay & Lesbian Pride Month. The Baltimore area is fortunate in that one of the tour locations will be right in our own backyard. On Sunday, June 17, Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia will host the event, which coincides with this year's Baltimore Pride weekend.

This historic musical event is currently shaping up to make the rounds of the U.S. this summer, featuring such artists as Cyndi Lauper, Erasure, Debbie Harry, The Dresden Dolls, The Gossip, and The Misshapes. The True Colors Tour, in support of the Human Rights Campaign, will kick off its maiden tour on June 8 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena is Las Vegas, with fifteen additional concerts scheduled throughout the nation, including the Baltimore area.

The concert tour, which is slated to become an annual event, will feature five hours of continuous music by the headliners. Additional special guests will appear at select venues along the tour, including Rosie O'Donnell, Rufus Wainwright, Jeffree Star, and Indigo Girls. Margaret Cho will serve as host for the entire tour.

The True Colors Tour, in association with the Human Rights Campaign, is the brainchild of singer/songwriter Cyndi Lauper. The concept is a result of her desire to give something back to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community that has been a vocal, career-long supporter of the artist and her music.

A joint program effort of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC, )the country's largest organization working toward equality for the GLBT community, as well as The Matthew Shepard Foundation and PFLAG (Parents, Families/friends of Lesbians And Gays), the first annual True Colors Tour intends to bring Americans from all across the country together to voice their concern and to show solidarity against discrimination, as well as to elevate public awareness regarding the very real issues facing the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. One dollar of every ticket sold will go to support the vital work of the Human Rights Campaign.

"As an American I was raised to believe that all people have the right to live with the same dignity, opportunity and safety. This should include everyone no matter what gender or sexual orientation," said Lauper. "This tour was created to celebrate our differences by raising awareness for liberty, fairness and dignity for everyone, not just some of us. Our fans can come out to celebrate a great cause while also hearing some great music."

The tour's host, Margaret Cho says, "I am thrilled to be part of this tour because I am about as colorful and as queer as it gets. Who else is going to keep all those queens in line?"

HRC advocates equal rights, benefits in the workplace, the equal treatment of families under law, and through many other programs seeks to improve the lives of GLBT Americans. Lobbying of elected officials at the state and federal levels, educating the public, and mobilizing local grassroots organizations within the community are all part of the work of the 600,000-member strong HRC.

The True Colors Tour is presented by Logo, the new digital cable channel from MTV Networks geared toward the gay and lesbian audience. The tour is produced by True Colors Concerts, LLC in partnership with the HRC.

Tour dates and locations are available on the True Colors Tour official website.
