True Lemon Zero Calorie Crystallized Citrus: Review

An All Natural Way to Add Great Flavor to Water, Tea & Recipes

Julia Williams
We all know that drinking ample water every day is good for our bodies, but how many of us actually reach the recommended 6-8 glasses per day? I do try to drink plenty of water, but most days I fall short. However, I've recently found a great product that has motivated me to increase my consumption of water. It's called True Lemon, and it's an all natural crystallized citrus flavoring with no calories, carbs, artificial sweeteners, preservatives or sugars.

I signed up for a free sample from WalMart.com, and received four single-serve packets in the mail: two True Lemon, and one each of the other flavors, True Lime and True Orange. I liked all three flavors, but the True Lemon was my favorite. All three of them were quite tangy though, and gave my plain water a nice citrus flavor.

If you like to add fresh lemon, lime or orange wedges to your drinking water, then I think you will love this product. It has all the flavor of fresh-squeezed citrus without the mess or the waste.

I can't tell you how many times I've had to throw away half (or more) of a lemon that I never got around to using before it rotted. This product comes in little packets, so I can use it when I want to, and not have to worry about spoilage. According to their website, it also comes in eco-friendly shakers in addition to boxes of 32 single-serving packets.

I purchased a box of True Lemon individual packets because I thought they would be more convenient to take to work, to use for travel, hiking, biking or anytime I'm on the go. The retail price at my store for the box of 32 packets of True Lemon was $3.49, but I received a $1 off coupon with the samples so I only paid $2.49. Considering that the product has motivated me to increase my water consumption every day, I think it's a fairly good value.

True Lemon, True Lime and True Orange are healthy, all natural alternatives to flavored waters and drinks that are loaded with calories and sugar - two things I definitely don't need an excess of in my diet. I like that I can make myself a flavorful drink that tastes sweet but won't add empty calories. Even better, one packet of True Lemon has 25% of the recommended daily amount of vitamin C!

The crystallized citrus product is great for diabetics and people with hypertension and other health-related concerns. Although I have only used it to flavor my water, you can also use it as a sodium-free rub, marinade or seasoning, you can use it to flavor your hot or iced tea, and in any recipe that calls for lemon or lime juice.

The only real drawback I can see with True Lemon, True Lime and True Orange is somewhat limited availability. I looked in Target, WalMart and four different grocery stores before I finally found it. Of course, had I been smart enough to visit the truelemon.com website first and use their handy store locater, I could've saved myself some time and gas. Their website also currently has an offer for free samples, which is a good way to try all three flavors. (Be sure to make a note of the stores near you that carry it, so you don't drive all over town like I did).

You can find True Lemon, True Lime and True Orange in one of three places in the grocery store: next to the Splenda in the baking aisle, by the bottled lemon juice or near the powdered drink mixes. You can also order it direct from their website.

Adding True Lemon to my water helps me drink more of it and doesn't add any calories or sugar. More importantly, it tastes great! Those are all good reasons I will continue to buy this product. If you try it, let me know what you think of it.
