True Spirit in Wisconsin

Tina Herzog
Multiple shades of green, blue and purple; ripple slowly toward the peaceful shoreline. The translucent colors capture my imagination and send shivers down my spine. I never realized so many beautiful shades, intertwined, create such magnificence. The marching spectrum introduces: rigid, hypnotizing, and sacred whitecaps; pushing them closer to me. Pristine water, for as far as, my eyes could see. The soothing tune of the colorful show; relaxing.

No phones to interrupt my freedom. No worries to break my solitude. No hurry to end my moment of unity. No responsibilities cluttering my mind. Simply, tranquility and unimaginable beauty existed within my realm for grasping. Paradise is the only word to describe the perfection of it all. My heart found a new home.

The unique landscape brought a tear to my eye. The eggshell- toned grains of sand, collapsed under my weight; reminding me how out of place my human touch was. The minuscule grains gathered; forming dunes that stretched across the immaculate water frontage. Small, prickly shrubbery bordered the sandy beach; protecting it from the outside world. Various broken shells, poked through the hot blanket; presenting visitors--free souvenirs.

Seagulls squawked and gracefully soared across the blue ceiling. Their curiosity led them to investigate my presence. As they drew near, they began to float--stationary in the sky; careful to stay ten feet above my reach. Undoubtedly, hoping for a quick snack. My children's voices whispered through the breeze; memories overwhelmed me. Pictures of past visits began comforting my struggling mind. My journey led me to a safe haven, a place I could feel, escape, and release all that hindered my day to day anxieties. How lucky I am to have discovered my own paradise.

I felt renewed and strengthened as my time in paradise expired. My heart yearned for a return home--before I even abandoned the beach's property. The thought of actually venturing toward my real home; saddening. I was now ready for all the challenges I had to face. If ever a scarring day arises, I have found my bodyguard; true spirit. My true spirit shall join the battle and guard my defenseless heart.

These memories I will carry, forever in my life. I will carry them with the hopes of another uninterrupted day of inner satisfaction and rejuvenation. Sharing this lost treasure to the world, would result in spreading the feelings to others...giving everyone a chance to find their spirit. I only ask one favor of any visitors; leave my home like you found it. Respect its hypnotizing powers and magical views by keeping it undisturbed.

Two Rivers is a quaint town on the eastern border of Wisconsin. It is located along Lake Michigan. The power plant insures the prosperity and job security of this majestic little town. The population may be small, but they are filled with large hearts. It is not a booming tourist attraction, so there is no need to worry about crowds. Several camping areas are centrally located for your convenience; offering an affordable way to visit. Make sure you mark this place on your travel map for your next adventure. Bring all your worries and then leave them behind. Take all your stresses and then drop them off before you depart. Open your soul and close your eyes. You, too, shall find your true spirit here.
