Trusting

3cardmonte
What is it that makes us trust some?

But not others?

Is it because they have earned our trust?

Proven themselves to be worthy?

Or do we not need a reason?

And trust them until they give us cause not to

Trust is difficult

Trust leaves us vulnerable

Open to disappointment

Or hurt

So if we are continually let down by those we trust

Why do we continue to do so?

Do we believe that this time it will be different?

Or do we simply desire it to be different so much

That we are willing to risk being hurt?

Trust is hard to do once it is broken. Just like a bone after a bad break, trust is never the same.

Trust is such a sensitive thing, especially if you've been hurt in the past. Excellent poem!

You are absolutely right. Trusting is allowing yourself to be vulnerable. People have to earn my trust, but I generally trust until somebody gives me a reason not to. And then it's difficult (not impossible) to build that trust again.
