"Truth versus Twilight" website launched after the "Twilight" movies have made the Quileute Tribe in Seattle famous. Since Bella and Edward first graced the big screen, the Quileute Reservation has been overwhelmed with tourists, according to the Native American Times. Now with the premiere of "Breaking Dawn," a new wave of tourists will arrive.
The Quileute Reservation is now a tourist destination for "thousands of middle-school-age girls and their families. This once quiet and peaceful Native American homeland is not so quiet today. With all the visitors it's apparent that the history of the Quileute Tribe is known only through the "Twilight" book and movies. "Twilight's" history of the Quileute is not the same as the real tribe bearing that name.
The website Truth versus Twilight has been created to decipher the truth about the tribe vs what is learned about the history of the tribe through the "Twilight" offerings.
The "Twilight" Quileute origin story involving the men turning into wolves as shape shifters greatly differs from that of the tribe. This is because the real origin story is relatively unknown. The "Twilight" books "effectively rewrite the public's conception of the Quileute into that of magical werewolves."
The website also lets visitors know if you are planning to come and see some of the sites that were in the "Twilight" movies, not to be surprised when they see ordinary people living ordinary lives. Packs of shirtless muscle-bound male teens aren't hanging around on the street corners, which is another thing the young teens might expect to see.
