Truths About Spirituality and Finding Yourself

Turing to a Higher Power to Find All the Answers.

MD Sparks
There is a disturbing trend in the world today regarding spirituality. Big name celebrities are encouraging all of us to abandon our old beliefs and start looking within ourselves to find peace and the answers to the universe. I find this new philosophy unnerving for many different reasons not to mention the fact that we seem to be a nation of the verge of abandoning God and the principals on which our great country was founded.

The greatest tool that the devil uses is to convince us that he does not exist. He is doing a great job on the majority of the world since we are starting to look within ourselves for all the answers and our purpose in life instead of turning to God. Quite honestly, I don't want to look inside myself for all of the answers. I am just a weak human who usually does not get it right. I love knowing that there is a higher power that I can turn to that is all knowing, comforting, and, unlike me, will never let me down. That's not to say that I don't want to discover my purpose in life, but I believe that God has given a purpose to every human being on this Earth and He is there to guide us and help us find those answers.

There is a lot of talk on "finding your inner peace." People are even hiring so called "life coaches" to find it. The simple truth is that no person, material thing, or money can help you to find that inner peace that you desire. Those things might work in the short term and you can even survive on the high that comes from following them. In reality, spiritual and inner peace comes from a higher power. God's love.

God never promised that life would be perfect. As a matter of fact he promised us that there will be struggles and hardships. Why else would there be so many passages in the Bible about keeping our faith strong so that we may stand up and have strength in times of trouble. Ephesians 6: 10-20 encourages us to put on the armor of God " so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes" (vs. 11) and that we should "pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kids of prayers and requests." (vs. 18) The sooner that we accept that life is going to be hard and not fair at times, the sooner we can be at peace with the lot we have been given.

Most believers can live with the hardships because we know that this life is just temporary. God has promised us a bright future with Him long after this world has passed away. There is a life promised to those who believe in Him and have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior that is free of pain and sorrow. Most of the small things that we struggle with will not matter in the long run and the knowledge of this can give you more inner peace and answers to your hard questions than any secular path to self discovery. God is always there for you and always has been. Turn to God and cast your burdens on Him and He will help you find your purpose. After all, He knows you better than you know yourself.

God loves you no matter who you are or what you have done. He will always be there for you.
