Diet Without Dieting, but in a Natural Way

Liz Gamble
So you have decided that it's time to loose some weight......for the last time. That extra weight is making you uncomfortable and will only lead to high blood pressure and high cholesterol, but also adds pressure to your hip and knee joints, as well as a strain on your heart and other organs. Now I know you've heard all this before, but if you really want to change, here are the directions that will help you loose pounds and inches. They'll be no crash diets or starving yourself "to get started". You are going to be able to take the basics that are outlined here and change the way you look at food and you're reaction to it. It will change the way you eat and your weight, forever.

For so many years food has been the saving factor that so many of those overweight used to get through the day. You grab a chocolate bar or some fast food because it's right there and easy to obtain, and if you are let down or bored (that's a biggie) or just not feeling right, that quick treat seems to make you feel better for a little while. Well there is another way and another answer to that and I believe I've got it for you.....at least it's worked for me. After 2 years of this change in my eating habits, actually thinking about food more than before, I am now at a balanced state where I can eat just about whatever I want, and it's because I have changed my tastes and desires. My weight has been at the same number consistently and my blood pressure and cholesterol have gone back to normal because I eat much better. If you're ready to check out the plan, keep reading.

First of all let's remember that the world we live in has an "instant potato" mentality. Everything must be quick, fast or microwavable. We are moving around too much with no destination and too fast, most of the time. It is because of this factor, and letting our minds get so bored, that our nutrition suffers and we loose track of what it important in our everyday lives. Our food consumption IS important and we ought to pay attention to it! When you get down to it, what we eat and how, and the stress levels in our lives are the two most important factors to our mental health. You are worth taking care of!

A few tips on keeping your stress level down. Begin the day with just a few moments of silence and asking the God of your own understanding to lead and guide you today, and to help you make wise decisions. By taking the time to do this hopefully you will begin to see confusion and stress coming and to avoid it. A lower stress level will allow you to concentrate more on the "fuel" that is going into your body that makes it run smoothly.

Now, we can identify the food we are overeating with our emotions. This has got to stop because we cannot let fickle emotions run our lives. We are in control with the Good side of our brain and that means we want the best for ourselves so that we can function optimally in our everyday business.

So where we are going to start is by eliminating from our diet everything white and what we are going to add is an extra meal to our day. If you do not allow yourself to get hungry in the first place, you will not attack everything in the frig, or at the convenient store for snack. You will eat before you get the pains, but the meals will be slightly smaller and you will have 4 meals a day, with one being breakfast.

Everything "white" includes sugar, potatoes (you may have sweet potatoes) flour, white bread, (you can have whole wheat or muti-grain) mayo, white rice, or ice cream and preservatives. Preservatives actually retain those bad foods so that the fat never comes off. The white foods create sugar in your body as you are digesting and that is why they are not permitted.

In their place, you can have fruits, vegetables (fresh or fast frozen), clean, lean meats and fish of any kind but make sure it is labeled "natural or without steroids." Whole wheat and muti-grain bread and rice are fine, only twice a day, as is butter and cheeses (twice a day).

And you must drink water (filtered if possible) or tea all day long. By drinking fluids (not soda or diet sodas) you are literally flushing out fat cells. Yea!

Get familiar with these foods and what you can make (use lots of herbs) because you will not be able to pick up fast foods, or candy on the spur of the moment. What you will do is plan ahead for the day in the morning and pack whatever you will need for lunch or dinner or whatever, for the day. Fruit, carrots, and some nuts or seeds will be a snack to get you through to the next meal.

This is sounding so good already....Just think how your healthy, slimmer body is going to thank you!

Each of the four meals - should consist of at least one protein. Protein is meat, fish, eggs or cheese and is a food that has staying power that will keep you satisfied longer. With your protein add some vegetables or rice that can be micro waved at your work and easily prepared. You can add an apple for instance, to give you that crunchy, sweet taste. Your mouth likes to chew so keep some crunchy foods and/or gum so you can chew.

I would advice counting your calories that first week. Women will want to stay around 1500 - 1600 and men around 2000. Let me state that this is not a calorie counting diet! The right foods are much more important that counting calories or grams or anything else. I just suggest this at the beginning so you can get an idea of what normal portions are. Remember you have been running wild and it will take a little holding back and double checking until your stomach shrinks and you are full faster. Don't worry, it will happen.

Now that you have the instructions, you are in control. A half hour or so everyday is good - but it's your life, live it the way you choose, but exercise will help your circulation and hurry the fat cells off.

Now you can eat like this forever if you want, and when you get to a lower weight you can keep eating the same and maybe add an additional piece of bread or granola bars. We don't ever have to go back to that uncontrollable way of eating that we were in. Our emotions are evening out and now we can choose how healthy we want to be and how much we want to loose. God created us to be happy, healthy and whole and He doesn't make Junk!
