Sully's Irish Pub
110 Grand Avenue
West Des Moines, IA 50265
515-255-9970
Sully's was the place to go for green beer when I was young and to hear the stories it's been around a long time. You'll find it hidden behind a vet's office and a hardware store in Valley Junction. Green beer flows faster than the Des Moines River and likely you'll find some down your back. It's also legendary that someone in the crowd will be walking on your toes. The crowd, which shows up every year, makes Sully's the number 1 Irish Pub in the Des Moines area. Sully's has food and drink specials most every night. Prices run average Des Moines Metro rates.
On St. Patrick's Day, very few food specials will be found as staff is totally busy just pouring out the beer. You might decide to locate inside the tent. I've found it's just as crowded as Sully's inside bar but is great fun. Unless the weather is terrible, you'll find cars parked up and down Grand and all around. Your St. Paddy's celebration could be enough by just hanging out at Sully's Irish Pub. It's said that anyone who's celebrated St. Pat's in Des Moines has celebrated at Sully's.
Murphy's Bar and Grill
2775 100th Street
Urbandale, IA 50322
[between Douglas and Hickman, east side]
Murphy's is a cozy little Irish Pub, located inside a small shopping area. The food is always great and you'll usually find the locals having a drink and discussing the current events of the day. St. Patrick's Day the tempo increases to people waiting to get inside. You'll likely find tables, booths and bar chairs occupied, with some floor space left for your St. Patrick's Day celebrating.
Friday nights are big at Murphy's. We love the great appetizers and tasty drinks. On St. Paddy's Day the green beer - or even regular beer - are the main hit of the day. Stop by, hang out for awhile with your friends and enjoy a couple of average priced beers in honor of St. Patrick.
Mickey's Irish Pub
50 Laurel St
Waukee, Ia 50263
515-987-9604
[between Glendale Dr and Melrose Dr]
Mickey's is known to be the best bar in the Waukee area. Waukee is about 10 minutes directly west of West Des Moines, from Highway 6 or Hickman Road. Normally Mickey's is not overly-crowded, but St. Patrick's Day brings out the locals and whoever else looking for a great Irish Pub.
Mickey's often has live music, a pool table and shuffleboard. The friendly staff serves up the green beer and once again probably won't have time for many appetizers on St. Paddy's Day. Prices are average and drinks are great. A home-town spin on this bar makes it a great hang-out any day and a good time is had by all who celebrate St. Patrick's Day with a beer or two. Come and join with us in hoisting a few green ones!
All of the above Irish Pubs honor the major credit cards. Prices are right, they're easily found and put on a great time for you and your friends during St. Patrick's Day.
