To really enjoy and enhance your yoga sessions, liven them up with new accessories. When trying yoga for the first time, you want to be as comfortable as possible. The first and main item needed is a mat. The yoga accessories are endless the choice is yours. The average yoga mat is 1/4 to 1/8 inches thick. The1/4-inch mats are extra thick and of course the 1/8-inch mat is a bit thinner. You may want to purchase an eco-friendly mat, or a travel mat for those yoga poses in your hotel suite. Use a yoga neck pillow, eye pillow, yoga balls, bolsters, blocks, etc. Allow yourself even more comfort with a round zafu (a traditional round meditation pillow). Try a zabuton set. Zabuton's are versatile yoga props used as shoulder stand pad used underneath a zafu cushion for comfort and support during yoga. How about a cushy zen pillow (a cotton rectangular meditation pillow) to transition into a more efficient position during yoga.

Eco Friendly Yoga Mats- the mats are completely non-toxic, biodegradable, recyclable, and contain no latex, PVC or rubber. The mat is made from a newly patented natural foam called (thermal plastic elastomer) which is natural. The mat also has a technology that prevents water absorption to allow easy cleaning. Good texture on each side with fantastic non- slip grip.

Silk Lavender Eye Pillows- 100% silk cloth that is removable and the cover is washable. A lightly scented soothing lavender aroma seeps through pillow that is filled with organic flaxseeds. Quiet your mind and relax the entire body with the luxurious eye pillow.

Yoga Stability Balls- Some people may be wondering whether or not a stability vinyl ball will hold their weight afraid to experiment in exercise programs that utilize this ball. Well I am here to tell you that the stability balls are designed to hold up 600 lbs. of pressure. If your weight is under this number you have nothing to worry about.

The Yoga balls are durable vinyl. They are shipped un-inflated and can be inflated quickly and easily with a ball pump. In yoga these air filled balls give support to poses such as back ends, hip openers and restorative poses. The size ( yoga accessories website) of balls range from 55 cm, 65 cm and 75cm. Do not forget to order the handy Deluxe Yoga Hand ball Pump.

Be sure to get yoga videos that use the yoga ball in the yoga video segments. Good DVD starters are:

(1) Balance Ball for Beginners (instructor Suzanne Deason).

(2) Balance Ball Conditioning for Weight Loss (instructor Suzanne Deason)

(3) Abs Conditioning (instructor Rodney Yee)

(4) Mat and Ball Workout by Yoga Zone (instructor Liz Gillies)

Mat Size Skid- less Yoga Towel- The towel comes in a rainbow of colors. It is designed to prevent slippage. It improves hygiene and is super absorbent. The great feature is you can wash away the sweat. It is machine washable. To prolong the life, wash in cold water and tumble dry on delicate cool side. The towels are light weight accented with tiny clear rubber dots that grip to your mat, enabling you to have a steadier practice. They are made of 80% polyester, 20% nylon with all organic dyes. The skid-less nubs are completely earth friendly as well, made from silicon and contain no latex.

Bonus#- It is truly a multi-purpose tool. On the reverse side your (fingers toes, hands, feet) can sneak in a little pressure point reflexology. Those areas are stimulated by the nubs on the towel.

This article makes me want to give yoga a second shot. I didn't know there were so many more things you could use for yoga - and I definitely didn't know I could get an eco-friendly mat. I have a "recycled" one from a friend who didn't like hers. Where do you find these mats at? I'm curious to see them.
