Try West Virginia for Skiing, Snowboarding or Snow Tubing

Gayle Crabtree
Winter sports fans may want to try West Virginia for skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing at its finest. It's a good way to stay physically fit during the cold weather months. This list includes privately owned ski resorts and even a state park.

Don't worry about bringing skis or snowboards. Outfitters are almost always near the resorts or even on the property. These are special stores that carry specific types of sporting equipment or gear and the professionals to be sure that you get what you need for your winter sports experience.

When you try West Virginia for Southern skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing you don't have to worry about getting the right equipment or fit. Outfitters can help with both.

If ski bibs aren't in your closet they can be purchased from the outfitter along with other items. Make sure to bring your regular winter weather clothing for skiing or snowboarding. A water proof jacket, hat, gloves and scarf are all you need to pack.

Winter sports classes for skiing and snowboarding are a must for skiers who don't hit the slopes often or are just learning. All of the resorts on this list offer them. You will also be expected to sign a waiver and code of conduct at most of the ski resorts in West Virginia.
