Trying New Foods

Philly
I pride myself on the fact that I will eat pretty much anything nowadays. When I was younger I would only eat chicken and pork. Many children grow up like this, being picky eaters. It was being bribed into trying new foods that got my taste buds roaring. First it was clam chowder then it was frog legs. The nastiest things imaginable were placed in front of me at a young age and I would try them all for a dollar a piece.

This became a great blessing later on in life as many times I would go to different restaurants and find different foods that are uncommon. Many people would wildly guess at what they wanted but I would just ask what the most popular choice was and eat that. Be it squid, duck, snails or raw fish I would happily throw it down my throat.

Too often I hear people talking about what foods they would never eat or how something is disgusting yet they haven't even tried it. I can't help but feel saddened for them. In the end it all comes down to personal preference obviously but if you open up your mind and your mouth you may find yourself falling in love with something you never once thought you would like.

In the not too distant future I plan on trying guinea pig in South America or traveling out to Asia where I can feast on a duck embryo. While it's true that neither item sounds overly appealing nor do they look fantastic. They may not even smell all that great. In the end however none of that matters. What matters is going out and finding food. Food should be an adventure, not just something you eat to stay alive. I am always looking for something new to try. I recommend everyone else take a chance get out there and try something new. Worst case scenario is you don't like the food and you buy something else, is that really too bad?
