Trying to Learn to Speak Spanish

Nora Nick
The clock was running on Spanish teevee
I called out the numbers in English while they
Were chanting in some strange language of unknown pedigree
It was Spanish and I was in English but we all agreed
The frightening end of the world, no dummies, just a measure of
time
And what, what did you say, We all lived past the one and came
right
Back to another minute we now claim is 2008

Are you having problems? is you memory dulled, are you playing the
organ
And articulating over everyone/

You didn't did you? You drank what? You're a drink, no, you're a
bottle
And you say, you bought?

Such brazen intellect is getting on my nerves.
Is that you in the john? i hear you puking out your guts.
Disgusting, I say, you're disgusting, serves you right, you stayed
out all night?

Did I say you could? Did you ask? Who do you think you are?
Could you please close the door and puke all day, I have a pork
roast in the oven and
a perfectly lovely buttered fettuccine on line.

What you want is What? An alka-seltzer that fizzes
Dear, don't put me on, how did I know that seltzer had fizzled?
Been in the medicine chest
Past its time, You expect me to know that alka seltzers have
expirations?

Now, you got me how would you like a fluffy omelette
Stuffed with black olives and melted feta cheese?

Don't dare me, I will you know.
