Trysil Ski Resort in Norway: The Best Destination for Skiing and Snowboarding

Cloudage
For tourists in Norway who are looking for the best place to spend a ski-vacation, Trysil should most definitely be considered.

Trysil is a small town located around 3 hours and 30 minutes outside Oslo. There are buses that go every hour that are very comfortable and safe. If you want to go there directly from the airport these buses stop there as well. Ask at the airport where the bus stops and at what time.

When you come into the center of Trysil, you'll see beautiful mountains and nature. There is one shopping street that takes you approximately five minutes to walk down so the center is very small. However, Trysil is one of Norway's largest ski resorts and every year thousands of skiers are drawn to this little village that is mostly run by tourism.

You should book a cabin in downtown Trysil instead of staying right on the ski resort. This way you'll save money and the ride to the resort is still very short. There are plenty of restaurants and stores in the center of the town, so you won't have to worry about going hungry.

Now onto the ski resort itself. In my opinion Trysil is one of the best places for a skier or snowboarder to be in Norway. They have marked hills where the colors indicate the level of difficulty and it ranges from beginner to very advanced. All ski and snowboard equipment can be rented at the resort and although the prices are steep, the equipment is good enough to be worth it.

The resort is big enough to have room for all the visitors that come here, the only place I have noticed being overcrowded is in the restaurant and cafeteria right on the ski resort. In the hills there's plenty of room, as well as on the lifts.

What I like the most about Trysil Ski Resort is the variety of hills and how much they have to offer. After a day in the hills you are more than likely ready to have a rest before going up again the next morning. If you need a break from the downhill skiing or snowboarding, ask at where you are staying or at the local tourist info about where to go cross country skiing. Just be sure to check the weather report and let people know where you are going, because in the mountains you can never be too safe.

For a skiing or snowboarding vacation in Norway I would recommend Trysil in a heartbeat.
