Tspoons Coffee Cafe in Iowa City, Iowa: Coffee Shop Review

Recently my husband and I grabbed a couple of coffees at Tspoons Coffee Cafe in Iowa City, Iowa. It is located on the first floor of the Old Capitol Downtown Center.

Coffee Just for You

Tspoons will prepare fresh brewed coffee that is made at the time of your order. You can choose from a dark French roast, the popular Columbian, or a lighter roast called Chicago Blues which is a blend of Columbian and Sumatra beans. There is also the palate-pleasing Hazelnut brew or the smooth, dark Costa Rican roast.

A Little Bit of Something for Everyone

Tspoons Coffee Cafe has a variety of gourmet leaf teas in Earl Gray, Oolong, Rooibos, and Jasmine. There are a number of seasonal teas as well.

If you need a boost, you can choose from the espresso drinks. Try the Mocha Blanco made with white chocolate. If you are a fan of hazelnut, try the Nutty Wonder. The Dutch Treat definitely lives up to its name made with creme de menthe and dark chocolate. There is also the Chocolate Kiss, the Caramel Macchiato or the Amaretto Amore.

If you want something caffeine free, try a smoothie! The Strawberry Sensation, Passion Orange Guava or Mango Madness are perfect for a fruity fix.

For something different try the creamy Mocha-Mania or Vanilla Bean smoothie.

Sweet Treats and all Day Lunch!

There are fresh baked pastries from Taste in Iowa City. You can choose from the Almond Bun, Cinnamon Sensation or Sweet Breads in pumpkin, poppy seed and banana nut. There are also Krispie Treats.

A variety of sandwiches and wraps are available all day.

A Great Place to Pull up a Chair

Tspoons is decorated in a modern coffee shop decor with rich, warm colors on the walls and oversized chairs. We sat in a comfy corner with a chair and sofa. A couple of local artists were displayed and their paintings were for sale.

There are a number of tables and chairs. There is also a computer corner with free wi-fi access; Tspoons Coffee Cafe was listed as a Wi-Fi hotspot by the Des Moines Register.

Tspoons is located at 201 South Clinton, in downtown Iowa City. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 6:30 AM - 9 PM; Saturday 8 AM - 5 PM; and Sunday 12 PM - 5 PM.
