Tulsa, Oklahoma Engagement Photograph Locations

Some towns are simply photography friendly. Tulsa, Oklahoma is one of them. Offering scenes of both the wild outdoors and classy downtown architecture, Tulsa's diverse locations are perfect for doing almost any sort of photo shoot. For this reason, many photographers love the ease that shooting engagement photographs in the Tulsa metropolitan area offers; there seems to be something to fit just about every couple's desires. Here are some of the "hot spots" for shooting various styles of engagement photographs in Tulsa.

1) Downtown Tulsa: From classy looking business complexes to old fashion styled bricks, downtown Tulsa offers the perfect location to shoot engagement photos. If you wish to focus on a more uptown city feeling photo shoot, then I would suggest focusing on photographs featuring the engaged couple on the sidewalks (or crosswalks) in the section of downtown where the tall buildings forming the skyline are evident. However, if you are looking for an area to shoot photographs by more "run-down" buildings with older brick sides, the streets near McNellie's pub will offer the perfect photo opportunities. In fact, many of these places have "Love" or "future bride" or even "future Mrs. _____" scrawled onto the bricks already from past engagement photo shoots.

2) The Pedestrian Bridge: Located off of Riverside and crossing the Arkansas River, this bridge is the ideal location for all wood-focused architecture photography. While some couples choose to take engagement photos here simply because the bridge holds some sort of sentimental memories for them, a good photographer will easily spot this bridge as a great location to shoot photographs. Additionally, the bridge is definitely long enough to find spots to take pictures that have no other people in the camera's view.

3) Turkey Mountain: Although far more of a hill than a "mountain," Turkey Mountain is a favorite for amateur hikers and mountain bikers in the Tulsa area. In the fall this wooded hill is especially great for more woodsy-feeling photographs; the brightly colored falling leaves line the trails and provide the perfect backdrop for autumn themed engagements. Several less treed fields also lie on Turkey Mountain, providing photographers with opportunities for open field photographs as well as the regular wooded trail ones.

4) Philbrook Museum of Art: While photographs inside the Philbrook mansion are discouraged, the outdoor gardens area of the Philbrook is perfect for engagement photographs. A lovely gazebo stands at the end of smartly gardened lawns and offers an ideal spot for photography. The Philbrook gardens are especially ideal for engagement photographs when the flowers are blooming in the spring/summer months.
