Tulsa's Best Burgers

13 Great Places to Eat

Grant Gougler
You're about to read a comprehensive guide to the best burgers Tulsa has to offer, no matter what part of town you're in.

Arnold's
1722 W 51st Street
Located in West Tulsa, a lot of people say you won't find better onion rings for miles-or anywhere, for that matter. Definitely worth a look if you're in this part of town.

Burger Street
Multiple locations
You won't see many chain restaurants on this list, but this drive-thru-only stand is pretty solid and consistent, whichever one you go to. Just be aware they put almost everything on their burgers if you don't special order. Some of the best fast food in Tulsa.

Claud's
3834 South Peoria Avenue

Claud's is a great little burger stand on Brookside. I suggest kicking your weekend off here before hitting the bars in that part of town, but remember the place closes fairly early.

Freddy's Frozen Custard
9311 East 71st Street
Not to be confused with Freddie's Hamburgers in Midtown Tulsa, Freddy's Frozen Custard is a growing chain in the Midwest. They offer always-delicious steakburgers and shoestring fries. The turtle sundae has pecans like you won't believe. My favorite combo is the single patty burger and the hot dog (served on a piece of toast), which comes with fries and a drink.

Freddie's
9130 East 11th Street
I've been eating at Freddie's since it was Mark & Tammy's. The unique attention placed on the chocolate shakes and corn dogs ensure it's just as good as I remember it when I was a kid. These people know what they're doing.

Great American Flea Market
9210 E Admiral Place
There's a concession stand hidden in this junk mall and I couldn't believe how good the burgers were. I sung my praises to the management on the way out. The fries were worthy of a write-up as well. Only open weekends.

Hank's
8933 East Admiral Place
When the Great American Flea Market isn't open, head across the street and hit Hank's. Like Claud's and Freddie's, it's truly an old-fashioned stand and it's been open since 1949.

Harden's
432 South Sheridan Road
If you want a thoroughly cooked burger at Harden's, you're going to have to ask for it. I suggest getting them as they make them: slightly pink in the center and unbelievably tasty. (See Weird Al Yankovic working at the original Harden's location in the movie UHF.)

Lot-A-Burger
Multiple locations
They're not kidding with their choice of name. The one on Mingo seems to be the most consistent, but you'll find me eating at any of 'em. The chicken basket isn't bad, either, which often comes loaded with fries, a dinner roll, and gravy.

McNellie's Pub
409 East 1st Street
I'm told there are more beers on tap at McNellie's than any other bar in Tulsa. I believe 'em. Great atmosphere, great burgers, awesome beer, and yes, you can (currently) still smoke there.

Ron's
Multiple locations
Two words: Ron's Special. Combine with the Spanish fries for a meal you won't soon forget. Just keep an eye out for the many locations (I eat at the one on Denver Avenue near the river). I think I would eat-if I haven't already-absolutely anything on the menu.

Weber's
3817 South Peoria Avenue
If Claud's is closed, Weber's is another good burger joint on Brookside. Legend has it that each batch of their root beer contains a sample of the last batch, which means you're technically drinking remnants from the very first batch ever made... if the legend's true anyway. Sounds weird, but it's delicious, trust me.

What-A-Burger
Multiple locations
What-A-Burger's open 24/7 and there are plenty of them around town.
