Born in Boston, Massachusetts on September 25, 1929, Walters was constantly surrounded by celebrities due to her father's profession. A Broadway producer, he also opened a famous chain of nightclubs. She went on to New York to attend Sarah Lawrence College, and graduated with a B.A. in English.

She began her television career doing writing and research, and was able to climb her way to the top. In 1976, Barbara Walters made history as the first female anchor on ABC's Evening News.

She has interviewed more celebrities and politicians than any other person in history, and has become one of the most prominent people in television. Most of her celebrity interviews have received top rating, and include every president since Richard Nixon, the Dalai Lama, Boris Yeltzen, Fidel Castro, and a variety of film and television stars.

She has never been afraid of a touch interview, but has been criticized for occasionally being soft. Most of her critics cite her ability to get the hard interview, but not ask the tough questions, a reason for frustration. Her current project is ABC's, The View, which airs daily at 11:00 a.m. ET, and surely does not stray from the controversial.

Walters will now join the likes of Howard Stern in embracing SIRIUS radio. Other personalities on SIRIUS satellite radio include: Dee Snider, Richard Simmons, and Bill Bradley.

SIRIUS Internet radio is 100% commercial free, and the monthly fee is $12.95. This price will get you over 75 channels with a range of music options and conversation topics. To purchase a SIRIUS radio and subscription, visit the website at http://www.sirius.com.
