It works to improve PC performance, fix computer problems and allows for easy customization of Windows. TuneUp Utilities easy interface appeals to the novice while its capabilities also attract intermediate users.
Though I am a self-proclaimed computer geek of sorts and can fine tune my computer for hours, I opted for a free trial of TuneUp Utilities about a year ago. Following a massive spyware intrusion, my PC was being a pain and not functioning very well.
Now I use TuneUp Utilities regularly to drain every ounce of speed out of my PC and help keep it running smoothly.
Why Use TuneUp Utilities?
Though TuneUp Utilities offers many solutions to improved computer performance and most of these functions take a mere mouse click or two to perform. So, if some of the terminology is above your PC repartee, don't worry, the program will work just the same.
TuneUp Utilities for a Faster Computer
Many typical computer and program settings actually slow your computer down, registry files become too bloated or corrupted, and thousands of temporary files scatter across the hard drive, unneeded.
Perhaps your display settings are improperly set. Regardless, TuneUp Utilities will optimize these settings for you and make recommendations. Whether it is turning off Window's themes, removing unneeded programs or defragmenting your registry file, a novice can walk through the TuneUp Utilities process easily.
TuneUp Utilities for Web Browsing:
Web browsers provide default settings that are not always effective due to varying internet connections and security preferences. TuneUp Utilities adjusts these settings, letting you review them first, optimizing both dialup and high-speed connections.
TuneUp Utilities for Program Errors
Many program and Widows errors are difficult to fix and TuneUp Utilities can help. Though many errors are beyond the scope of TuneUp Utilities, a substantial number of common computer problems can be remedied with a couple of mouse clicks.
TuneUp Utilities for Computer Maintenance
You can schedule TuneUp utilities to automatically perform functions so you don't have to be concerned with remembering to check the status of your computer and files.
TuneUp File Protection
Programs such as undelete are available to recover lost files and TuneUp Shredder erases documents you may wish to destroy completely.
TuneUp Utilities for Advanced Users
Some users will appreciate a few of the advanced features TuneUp Utilities offers. A program designed to replace the Task Manager in Windows allows a better view of the active processes.
A registry editor is available that offers a slight advantage over RegEdit with a History pane and Rescue Center backup.
TuneUp Utilities System Information panel offers some additional information lacking in the Windows version and is more intuitive.
The StartUp Program Manager and software removal program are located within the TuneUp Utilities suite and provides a user-friendly interface.
Another feature, TuneUp Utilities Memory Manager, may help improve a slow system but as with most memory managers the program is limited if the computer is substantially lacking RAM.
TuneUp Utilities to Customize Windows
Some enjoy TuneUp Utilities primarily to give Windows a new look. The program offers a TuneUp Styler for customizing icons, the Window's startup screen, boot screen, custom themes, and the ability to repair missing icons.
Conclusion
TuneUp Utilities 2007 offers some additional enhancements such as TuneUp Disk Doctor and will soon include a free Vista upgrade. Currently, TuneUp Utilities is priced at $39.99 and offers a 30-day free trial.
Many programs designed to tweak Windows elicits more problems then they correct. TuneUp Utilities has proven to be reliable and helpful for getting the most out of Windows and can adequately repair faulty settings and system problems that arise from normal use.

Sounds like a great program Donna!Of course, a high speed connection would also help;(
Sounds like a great investment...my pc could sure use a little boost these days!
Very helpful. AC's site could use a few tune ups, too. I lost a whole article the other day after I hit the "Save and Next" button. I had to write the complete article again. UGH!
I need this. My computer crawls along.
Thanks for this Donna. Do you have any tune ups to help my brain and hand synchronization? Lol
This is so helpful, Donna! My computer has been running a little slow lately, so maybe this will gas her up.
Excellent suggestions.
