Two weeks ago, my husband and I decided that we wanted to have a seafood dinner. A co-worker mentioned that we should go down to one of the casinos in Tunica. About six months ago, we went down to the seafood buffet at the Grand Casino, and we were really not impressed. I asked around the office, and several of my colleagues suggested that we try the Horseshoe Friday night seafood buffet.
The drive to Tunica was only about twenty minutes - we live in Southaven, MS. The new I-69 is now open from Hernando to Tunica, so that made the drive a lot quicker than it has been in the past.
We got to Horseshoe at about 7:30. There was a line outside the buffet. I convinced my husband to wait in line since we had driven in for it, and I am so glad we did stay! The All-you-can-eat seafood buffet is very reasonably priced. Our bill was slightly under fifty dollars for the both of us. I have heard that there are coupons in the Tunica visitors guide - we did not have any, but I will be looking into this for the next time we go (and there will be a next time!).
There is a huge salad bar to start you off with a tremendous mix of fresh vegetables and lettuce. There are also breads of every sort - rolls, loaf breads, sweet breads, etc. The Horseshoe usually has a buffet with all kinds of great food - Italian, Chinese, Mexican, Home cooking, southern, etc. On seafood Friday nights, they add seafood to this mix. We began out meal with fresh lobster. This was my first experience ever with lobster, and it will not be my last! There were crab claws, seafood gumbo, red beans and rice, baked fish, fried fish, fried shrimp, seasoned shrimp, and many other seafood dishes. I was in heaven.
We sat and ate crab and lobster for almost two hours. Just when I didn't think I could eat another bite, I realized I hadn't even visited the dessert line yet! There was ice cream with all of the fixings (candies, toppings, etc). Every kind of cake you could imagine was there - carrot, chocolate, lemon, yellow cake, strawberry, etc. There were cookies, puddings, cheesecakes, fresh fruits, and every other sweet treat you could ever imagine. But here is the best part - there was a chocolate fountain. Next to the chocolate fountain were fresh strawberries and skewers. I loaded up the skewers with strawberries and dipped them into the chocolate fountain for a heavenly chocolate bliss.
By the time my husband and I finally rolled ourselves out of there, I thought I was going to gain 10 pounds (which, by the way, I didn't thanks to crabmeat being low in calorie). If you live anywhere near Tunica, it is definitely worth it to make the drive on Friday night and go to this buffet. It's the best one I have seen yet!

Post a CommentYes - The Horsesheoe has great food...esp their all you can eat Friday night seafood buffet. Just to note though - once you get there, you are given a reservation (usually an hour from when you arrive) in which you can then come back and get in line for the buffet. Kind of annoying.
