Price: Tupperware is much more expensive than any Ziploc container could ever be. A set of 2 Twist and Lock containers from Ziploc will cost about $3.00. A set of 3 Fresh N Cool containers from Tupperware are approximately $20.00. With the Tupperware, you will pay a shipping fee, but it is cheap compared to other companies. You will pay tax on both products. Because of the huge price difference, this is where you would also need to consider the quality and guarantees that each product comes with. Are you willing to pay more for a better product, or would you prefer to purchase at a cheaper price and keep replacing? Ziploc takes the cake with this one.
Color: Trying to match your bowls to your kitchen décor? Tupperware offers a variety of colors and styles. Everything from neon green to deep red or black is available. There is a color for everyone. Ziploc comes in the standard clear blue lid with a clear bottom. Not such a great match for all kitchens. I think Tupperware has the better selection of colors.
Reliability: Tupperware containers are air-tight to keep your food fresh. Ziploc containers are not air-tight and can let 'refrigerator smells' into your food. If you've ever pulled a bowl of food out, and it smells and tastes like onions because they were stored in the fridge, you know what I'm talking about. I do not know about you, but I definitely prefer my food to be fresh and taste like it should. Another win for Tupperware.
Guarantee/Warranty: Tupperware comes with a lifetime guarantee on almost all of their products. Your products are guaranteed not to chip, peel, crack or break under normal non-commercial use. Ziploc does not carry any guarantee. If you have a problem with one of your Ziploc products chipping, you are basically up the creek. If your Tupperware product can not be replaced because it has been discontinued and there are no other products like it, you will receive a merchandise credit. Also, if you lose a lid to your favorite bowl, you can buy a replacement piece through Tupperware. Again, with Ziploc- you are basically down 1 bowl or will have to use it without a lid. I think it's safe to say that Tupperware is the obvious winner on this topic.
Availability: In order to purchase Tupperware, you need to find a consultant to purchase from. You can also online, or if a friend has a Tupperware party, you can purchase products that way. As far as Ziploc, you can walk into any grocery store or Wal-Mart and find a variety of products to buy without placing an order. It is more convenient to be able to just walk into a store and buy your product- Ziploc wins that one.
Free Products: Unless the company sends a free coupon, there is virtually no way to get free Ziploc products. You can use a variety of coupons to get them at a cheaper cost, but they will probably not be free. Tupperware offers the option of hosting a party to earn free products. There are no strings attached with this, and you may be able to find a consultant who will give you a 'free sample' of a product to try out. It may not be the most expensive product in the catalog, but none the less- it could be a free shaker or citrus peeler.
With that, I hope you can make a decision that is right for your wallet and your taste buds.
